Can guarantee that there will be merch pre-orders up on June 1. Don't think it will include the album.

 

Every time he goes on a twitter answering spree I roll my eyes. He went to the Tom Delonge school of hyping stuff.

 

It's a fair bet that June 1 is when the Music For Cars era begins, but that definitely doesn't mean the album comes out then.

 

Would they really drop a single with no context though? I would have to imagine they’d release album info with that single, pending they premiere it somewhere.

 

I mean.. the new era has already begun. We already have new colors, new aesthetic, etc plus we already know the name of the record. It's definitely something bigger than just an "era" beginning

 

Yeah, this is why it kinda does give the impression that they're going to drop the single on June 1st. As ridiculous as that is.. I can't imagine they'd release a single next week along w/ the release date. It would kind of make the countdown have less of a purpose if we already know what comes at the end of it.

Part of me feels like they could just drop the whole record no single lol

In all seriousness I think the countdown leads to something we will not predict.

 

the countdown is to the album announcement. they'll drop a single without announcing the album

 

it's more than likely not gonna be the album, but let's not pretend anything is really off the table with this band

this isn't a real guess, but it'd be wild if they released like two or three songs in the form of like a short film or something and then put out the album about a month later

 

I think this is the most correct thing anyone has said about the situation, personally

 

Had a dream that I was listening to the new album and it sounded awesome

 

The Jamie tweet saying it "became something much bigger" or whatever felt sincere and makes me think they'll announce something surprising on June 1st, like they're doing a completely free tour before the release, or it's a double album with one half coming out this year and the other half next year. An EP release on June 1st followed by an album later this year would be amazing, but I wouldn't put anything past them in finishing out this "era."

Whatever it is at this point will probably not live up to a 30 day countdown.
