Time for another huge-ass dump of new listens.

Nasty-ass grind out of Brazil. Everything sounds as delightfully furious as I could hope for. Especially that guitar tone.

More ferocious fucking grind that just makes me want to break shit.

New Ingested release is fantastic. They continue to bring the idea of deathcore to fierce new heights and make the sound much more unique than most bands. Jason Evans also has a distinctive vocal technique as always. Need to revisit this more.

Speaking of bands that do unique things with deathcore elements... Bog Wraith are a band that have continued to impress me with their output and sound progression over the short couple years they've been around. They fiddle around with elements from death metal, black metal, deathcore and others and frankly they're among a very few bands that actually make the "blackened deathcore" sound work. Highly recommend this.

Every now and then Spotify gives me a good recommendation... Orbit Culture. An interesting group. They basically sound like if James Hetfield did vocals for Gojira.

Spun this classic today. I think Immolation is one of the few metal bands with a near flawless discography.

Sleep tight and get ready for THRASH METAL THURSDAY, nerds.

THRASH METAL THURSDAY EARLY BIRD EDITION

because my car broke down and my wife and I are sharing a car and I had to drive her to work at 4:30 blah blah blah

Here's Artillery covering Nazareth. One of the best thrash albums from the 90's:

Forbidden guitarist Tim Calvert passed away earlier this week :( he played guitar on the first several albums (also played guitar for Nevermore's 1999 album). Twisted Into Form is one of the most underrated thrash albums from one of the more underrated thrash bands, and I'd put it up there among the greats. RIP Tim:

For something more lighthearted, here's some Ghoul with some death/thrash:

Stay tuned for part 2 later

This post is a mental reminder to check out Expurgo as I've heard good things about them...Brazilian grind always seems to have that extra oomph that just puts it over the edge.

So stoked for Demilich/Artificial Brain/Blood Incantation/Nucleus on Sunday. It's been a while since I've gone to a good death metal show.

Not necessarily a metal album but I finally peeped that new No Warning record and there’s a healthy dose of thrash and Alice In Chains influence on there. It’s really good

They have been a band to sort of “ride the fence” in terms of genres. Totally a good thing.

More German thrash! From the early 90's, here's some prog thrash. For fans of Coroner and Voivod:

Listening to Power Trip’s Opening Fire, I am convinced this band can not make a bad record. Everything they put out is just quality, good ass thrash.

Guuhhh, this new Parkway Drive album.......sigh........seems like they really want that radio rock exposure. I guess as a way to ensure the band is more successful and continues to gain new fans, it's not a bad record to make, but relating it back to all the fans you've gained up to this point, it's a pretty big pile of blahhhhhh

There were several hints of it on Ire, but on this they just went all in as much as they could, on all the tracks. That shredding/heavy sound from those first two albums, and sprinkled on the albums since, is absent on this one

    Random Friday new music updates:

-The new Parkway Drive album is bad. All I will say on that front.

-The new Thy Catafalque is fun avant-garde metal. I have listened to a lot of more avant, progressive type metal like this so I am treading a bit of new ground with it, but I'm enjoying the records grooviness and outside of the box choices that work pretty well on the record so far.

-Lot of new music to dig into today: Dimmu Borgir, Lik (death metal side project from one of the dudes in Katatonia), Ihsahn, Wolvhammer, the new Thou EP (need to give it another listen), and Adversvm.

To add to today's new stuff: Angelus Apatrida (thrash), Collapse of Light (atmospheric/blackened doom), Dead Cross (crossover thrash), Jute Gyte (avant-garde black metal), Nervewrecker (sludge), Raven Throne (atmospheric black), and Respire (blackened post-metal). Lots of good weird stuff.

I like Lik but god damn I hate their name. Apparently it can translate to "corpse" from Swedish to English but holy damn there's no way for me to not hear "lick" when I say it. Which is just

Also, here, I don't listen to thrash all that much but here's my belated contribution to TMT. Unless someone already posted this in which case, oops.
