Yep. They're just gone and done. And we're left with a disappointment in their final moments that outweighs their entire musical legacy imo.

 

I’m almost of the opinion that any of them will ever release music again, honestly.

 

Whether you still listen to them or not, we should all be of the mind that they're done and gone.

I think that is the most we can hope for at this point. If you still want to hold onto a tainted legacy, because let's face it, that's what we're left with if you still hold even a modicum of care, their complete disappearance and silence is the most closure that will ever happen.

Hoping this is a lesson for the music industry, and that it can all be dealt with better in the future.

 

Exactly. Nothing to do with a "sick atmosphere" at publications (not saying that there isn't one but it has nothing to do with caution in publishing these claims). Libel suits can destroy careers and publishers, of course media outlets are going to proceed with caution before publishing any controversial claim. I'm in journalism school right now, and every student is required to take an entire course devoted to the legal aspects of journalism... I can guarantee you every journalist, no matter how well-intentioned, keeps these things in the back of their mind.

 

Were the other band members aware of his behavior?

 

As far as I know, they haven't said and likely won't ever say. As it goes, fuck all of them. Even if they didn't know, they have made no effort to address it or temper their fans that have run these victims through the mud.

 

Someone was wearing a BN shirt at the Andrew McMahon show today and he got a compliment from a staff member on it and they were both talking as if the band was just waiting to come back and like it was some tragedy that was plaguing them. It really bummed me out while I was having a good time waiting and showed me just how different opinions are outside of this site.

 

Go to Brand New radio and downvote every song. Do it for about 20 songs and Spotify’s algorithms should get the message.

Idk, I ran into his family in Nashville last year before all this went down and had a similar experience. He talked about how it was a better place to raise his kid, etc. I wouldn’t read much into his response like they were though. My guess is the smile and “thanks for being a fan” was to deflect the question because a tour is never ever happening.

It's super weird how the creator of the post has turned JL's fairly innocuous response into something "CRYPTIC".

 

Yeah, I think it’s unfortunate that there’s still so many fans who see him and act like nothing ever happened, ask about future tours, etc... But that being said I don’t think the act of Jesse engaging in conversation when someone chooses to talk to him is a bad thing, sounds about like how you’d expect anyone to act in that situation. Just disappointing that people still idolize him after what has come out.

 

Yeah, it’s so disappointing that there’s such a large community of fans still acting like nothing’s changed and this band is just being “mysterious”. There’s no way they’ll ever play a show again, and if they DO try to Jesse is an even bigger scumbag than he seems right now.

Yeah, I didn't want to say anything because people can feel however they want but... that's a bit much to me at least. I certainly think he has done very repulsive things and damaged multiple lives with his behavior, but in my opinion, wishing a violent death on someone who still has a family (including very young kids) for this isn't a good look.

 

Imo the correct response is for him to say "No, we're done" and move on.

It's not enough and it'll never be enough, but putting a proverbial stake through the heart of the platform he so egregiously abused for so long is the absolute least he can do.

 

It is so wild the other guys haven't done a single thing to try to disassociate themselves from JL.
