I have no idea how I used to stand through 6+ band local shows back in high school.

thats two openers and its still too many no one wants to see a local band on a national tour

The last Julien tour was seriously so perfect.

Tancred got 30 minutes, Julien played for slightly over an hour. The whole evening was like 2 hours.

I prefer having one opener but really even if it’s only 20 minutes a bad opener will feel like an hour to me

Hey @sophos34 remember when we saw La Dispute open up for Thrice? That was cool

Apparently there was some opener before them but they sucked so I forgot about it

I went to Coachella like 2 weeks back and each day was noon-1am for me. The first day was so exhausting because I was up for literally 48 hours but it was worth it

I left Bled Fest before La Dispute last year because the show was an hour behind and my friend and I were exhausted. We had been there since 12:30 and it was like 9:00 and La Dispute wasn’t even going to start until 10:30. Not into that.

Kinda worried the same thing will happen with Foxing this year.

I find Foxing to be boring for the most part which makes no sense because on paper I should love them.

When I saw rufus wainwright it was seated and no opener. Show was over by 930pm. It was fantastic.

These days I’m usually driving 3-6 hours for a show so that certainly informs my opinion. I’d agree one opener is ideal but I’ll cut a second local or smaller opener some slack for the exposure.
I remain steadfast in my belief headliners should play at least 90. I came to see them melt my face not tease me with a brief sampler.

Yeah getting home early is never in the cards for me so that I don’t care quite as much about. About half the shows I see are in Grand Rapids, about 50 minutes away, and the other half or so are in Detroit, which is a solid 2.5 hours

More and more bands have been coming to Portsmouth which is great. The hour plus drive each way to and from Boston gets old.

I hate living in Southern California. I never get any shows...

If I'm going to a show it's gonna be a minimum of 3 hours one way, so not having a ton of openers taking up time or having a short setlist is nice in that sense. When I lived in the city I'd sometimes go by myself so it was also nice when things got over at a reasonable time cause I was walking home alone at night. When I saw Modest Mouse I thought oooh I'll get home okay! And then they come on late and I died inside. But if a show is on a weekend and I have a hotel room I don't care as much.

  19. Shows that finish at 10:30 or earlier are the best. But I go to more 18+ shows and they all finish at 11:30 or later :eyeroll:

One opener is all that's necessary

I need to be at the front for GA concerts because I'm 5'5 and I'm really anxious if I have people all around me. I like seated shows, but for the right artists. And I was surprised by how satisfied I was by a one hour set by Mitski, she really didn't need to play longer. It was an emotional and enjoyable show regardless!

I was working barricade at a Further show and if the crowd was not more entertaining than the band I would’ve fallen asleep. 2 2 hour sets!

I wish Rush was still touring. Each time I saw them they had to have played over two hours and each time was out of this world.
