Here’s my stupid opinion about time constraints in music:

Very, very few albums benefit from being over an hour

on the complete opposite end of the spectrum it's hard for me to want a see someone headline that only has like one album, like I feel I don't want to see someone live until they have an oeuvre and 45 minutes usually isn't long enough to explore that

I was going to say like Radiohead and Bruce Springsteen even with their insanely long sets it's still inevitable that they don't play songs you want them to

I used to research all opening bands to make sure I knew their songs and blah blah but now I usually skip their set and show up right when the headliner is due. I dont necessarily want fewer songs so much as i don't want to stand anymore.

thats when covers start sliding into sets. and i do not care about covers live unless there's a recorded counterpart.

ooh I love live covers, different strokes for different folks

y'all are making me think of a real unpopular opinion, I think all or most shows should be seated and I hate when you're at a seated show and everyone just stands the whole time, I bought seats for a reason

GA shows make me incredibly anxious and also my feet hurt

The best live cover will always be when Andy Hull and Kevin Devine did the Fresh Prince theme

unless its something the band has worked on in the studio it can come across as pretty bar band and amateurish. which can be fun i guess but sometimes a disaster

seated shows up on the balcony are the way to go.

Okay so I don’t mind people standing at seated shows but yes i totally agree that seated shows are the best. Being able to sit through openers and in between sets is a gift. And like the last time I saw Julien Baker it was seated and it made a lot of sense to just remain seated for her set.

I don’t like covers live because I’d rather that time be spent on an original song of theirs

I’m 5’10 and always feel like I’m too short at general admission shows

I'd be so disappointed if the time I saw Metallica was cut to just 45 mins :tear:

My best friend is like 5’4 and GA shows with her are tough. If we can’t be right up front she basically can’t see anything.

Y’all are crazy, I get bummed if the headliner plays less then an hour and a half.
3 openers is perfect I think, assuming they don’t suck. A local, an up and comer with name recognition, and the headliner.

yeah there are definitely some types of music that being seated makes way more sense

I agree with the first part about being bummed if the headliner plays a short set but I think two bands is the perfect number. Three is ok though.

2 is ideal, 3 is fine, anything more is annoying tbh.

Seriously forward to the day I get to stand/sit through a 3-hour Springsteen set!

Not sure how unpopular this opinion is but I really don't seem to like jazz music.
