uma was their best post-hiatus song until wilson and hold me tight came out

Save Rock And Roll is the only track that I'd argue bests Uma in that category

Relistening to Uma now... and I think it's just the pre-chorus that bothers me.

SR&R is definitely my favorite post-hiatus track.

  6. Agreed. I thing "Alone Together" was my favorite before that. That melody is so good.

ABAP is still easily my second favourite by them and isn't far off Folie for me. It's probably their most consistent for me, only really two songs I don't like.

"Miss Missing You" is my fav off SRAR for the 80s synthpop romanticism

    Young Volcanoes was an earworm.

I think I was just bigger on the band than I ever have been in the SR&R cycle which is why I enjoy it so much more than Mania and AB/AP

the mania album cycle was the most ive been into this band since cork tree tbh. and ive always loved them throughout the years for every album but mania struck a chord in me i havent felt since cork tree when i was super young and excited about everything

"Young Volcanoes" is good but it reminds me of Train's "Hey Soul Sister" too much for it to be one of my favorites for that association alone

which maybe isn't fair to the song on its own but ya

does anyone else think patrick sounds like mr urie on the opening line of stay frosty or is that just me

I feel like I've posted this before/probably on AP but did they ever acknowledge how a bunch of the SRAR songs seemed to consciously acknowledge and like invert current pop songs ('11 to like '13)

    i.e.

"Young Volcanoes" being a lot like "Hey Soul Sister"
"Alone Together" evoking "Replay" by Iyaz
"Just One Yesterday" having an intro very "Rolling in the Deep"-esque

or was it just kinda a coincidence

the way he uses his low register is very similar to urie and different from the way he usually employs his

they've always been similar sounding at times but I can see this

i mean i think it's pretty clear without them having to come out and say it that save rock and roll was an attempt to put together all the big pop sounds during their hiatus with their own fall out boy spin on it all.
