Lol I get the notion of being happy and sad. I understand the feeling. Just think the song is a minor work.

Ruston Kelly played a new song tonight where he drops a line about Kacey singing a John Prine song. He was really great. Said he'll have some new stuff out in the fall.

At least 10 times a day I find myself singing the chorus out loud around my office

Shoutout to Wonder Woman. Drums are great on that one. I can't think of any description for this album other than smooth, which makes me want to come back to it all the time.

This album really surprised me! I tried to get into Pageant Material back when it came out and it wasn't quite for me, but I'm wondering if this might end up being like Taylor Swift where I got into all of her albums in reverse order.

@Craig Manning I'm sure you're sick of being asked as the go-to country guy, but what are some other albums/artists to check out if I really liked this?

I know you didn't ask me but the H.C. McEntire album from this year is great and overlooked!

There's nobody quite on her level as a writer, but for pop hooks and sass, Maren Morris' Hero. For the more heartfelt angle, Ashley Monroe's The Blade.

He'll tell you both of those, too. Haha

Definitely the two Chris said! I'd also add:

    Caitlyn Smith - Starfire
    Natalie Hemby - Puxico
    Kelsea Ballerini - Unapologetically

None of these are a perfect match, but there are definite elements that line up. Kelsea and Maren are poppier. Ashley is more traditional. Natalie is a little folkier. Caitlyn is just an out-of-this-world vocalist. I'm guessing you'd like at list parts of all those records.

All 3 of these are great but I can't say enough about Puxico. In my opinion she comes closest to Kacey. She has a few songwriting credits on this album.

thank you very much!! added all of these to my list. I love that Maren Morris song "Rich" - it reminds me of something @Anna Acosta would write if she ever decided to go country.

That's probably where I'd start. She doesn't have quite as much pop sensibility as Kacey (on that record, anyway; she can definitely write pop-country songs), but her sound definitely aligns with the ballads on Golden Hour. "Slow Burn" could have been on Puxico.

If you like "Rich," you'd definitely dig Hero. There's more where that came from!

  25. These are some great songs by some very talented ladies who have solid albums:

Kelsea Ballerini - Love Me Like You Mean It
    Lauren Alaina - Doin' Fine
Jillian Jacqueline - Kids These Days
