I wrote some guitar structures but am having trouble coming up with vocals/lyrics which is a curious reversal of what used to be the case

Fuck it, I’m in. This might be the push I need to finish some of these songs I’ve been spending the past few months on.

My EP will be 4 original songs and a cover. The cover is a shortened, stripped back version of Yazoo's Only You.

I have recorded the cover, and I have just about finished the first original song.

I might see if anyone wants to do their own vocals/lyrics for some of the instrumentals I have. I'll see

Im still mulling this over. I really want to get a movement done, but theres another movement that coincides with it and the moon phases and my mania.

Overthinking is a real c word.

  10. Can mine include songs from previous comps?

  11. It kind of defeats the idea and purpose of this particular compilation, but if you feel like your EP should include previously released songs, I guess go for it.

  12. Hm, I'll see what I can do. Still got plenty of time left to learn other songs from the artists I've already covered.

  13. Tentative tracklist, more as a note to self. Spoilers.

    Side A
Mitski - Last Words of a Shooting Star
Jay Som - The Bus Song
    Japanese Breakfast - ???

    Side B
    Camp Cope - Done
    Daughter - Youth
    Soccer Mommy(?) - ???

  15. How’s everyone’s songs coming along? Anyone pretty deep into it yet?

So far I have 3 instrumental demos in various forms of completion.

I’ve been on tour the last few days so I haven’t been able to write anything for a bit. But I’m hoping to get back into it starting next week.

In all seriousness, I've got a minute and a half with guitars and drums and then another 2 minutes or so of drum parts i'm still tracking ideas over.

It's just hodgepodge "parts" mashed together. Not really a solid "song".

I've had a song recorded for a few months that I never shared with anyone, so that's one song down.
I've been working on a new song these past few days, hopefully its done by next week and I can bust one more out.

I want to join in. Worked on a record during a rough period for about 8 months that was accidentally deleted and lost by my partner and haven't been able to walk back into the studio since. But this might give me a reason/excuse to get back to it. Either way, excited to hear everyone's submissions. Covers are fun, but I really like diving into everyones originals

grey hairs, get out of me zoots! Prestigious

this EP is turning into an LP

  22. I have a note on my phone that has outlines for 10 song ideas. Some may get consolidated into one idea. I have music pretty much done for one track but not sure which yet as I haven't written any lyrics for anything yet. I just have some quippy one-liners here and there I wanna touch on. I also created an apple music playlist with songs I dig the tone or styles of here

  23. SAME but I had this LP idea for a while, im using this EP to kick my ass into gear and get some stuff down.

I'm definitely including a cover on this, because I can play it in my sets and at the end , I get "man that song waa the best!!" ...which is weird haha .

I get to record weds, so anyone wants to do a little thing ,let's do a little thing.

  25. Or another, shorter idea:

EP title: Four Closers - A Bed, A Roof, A House, A Room
Camp Cope - I've Got You ("A two-year-old child in a hospital bed"
St. Vincent - Smoking Section ("And sometimes I go to the edge of my roof"
Japanese Breakfast - This House ("This house is full of women")
Mitski - Last Words of a Shooting Star ("I am relieved that I left my room tidy")

Bit of a wordplay on "foreclosure" and also kind of sounds like "for closure." And the sort of connective tissue of house imagery gives it a bit of thematic coherency in a way. And also they're all kind of about death...

Sooo, which idea sounds better? More songs, or more coherency?

Took me forever to sing through the last song without crying, and I still can't do it with the first one.
