Forget Blink-182, ‘The Canyon’ shows me The Used is this generation’s Beethoven and if you don’t agree you are doing music wrong.

It's really great! I always had bands and was the only person in any of those bands who really wanted to hone the songs, pay attention to the small stuff, think through the small stuff, and really focus on the emotional resonance of the songs. It makes sense that I'd then later pursue helping people who have that same dedication, love, and interest make music.

It's just what I love. The studio is fairly new - it's not even full time yet - but it's gaining momentum. More and more people are hearing the things I'm doing and asking me to do that for them.

I live in the middle of North Dakota, USA. It's kind of a weird music world out here - musicians aren't playing a ton because most venues want cover bands and aren't willing to do a lot of original artists. All the super serious artists leave and the ones staying aren't necessarily making much money doing their thing. I'm trying to navigate how to exist in that reality right now and eventually get out of my day job.

It's slowly moving towards mixing/mastering more projects from outside of my area and doing less regional stuff. Not that I want to turn away tracking projects (truthfully, I REALLY love the tracking process because the songwriting/collaboration/song-problem-solving thing is SUPER fun for me) or mixing/mastering projects for local/regional acts but the bands in the area aren't always able to dedicate the time/effort/budget to making a good record and not many bands from outside this area are willing to travel to North Dakota to track a record.

    Sorry! Got long-winded!

It looks like - from some of your posts - you make music, too! Do you have a link to anything you've done? I love hearing new stuff!

I’m still catching up on some stuff from last week. I listened to the new Underoath and Eels albums today. Both were enjoyable but I probably won’t return to the Eels one very frequently

Yeah, it's short, but it's so dense (in a good way) it doesn't feel like a short album.

I still don't know why publicists send me world music acts. I don't think I've ever written about one in my life.

World music is a music genre. Major publications do write about it, but these acts tend to not draw in the States.

Just bought the new Animal Flag LP

    1/1000 - Purple-In-Clear (Color-in-Color)

Too good not to support. $16 for a sweet variant of an incredible record is a steal too
