we've seen the shadow of the axe before Supporter

As soon as Sansa mentioned she knew about their Great Uncle Brenden Stark raising an army and starting to take back some of the North, I immediately started wondering why she was lying to them. Still not sure why. Unless maybe she doesn't want everyone to know what Ramsay did to her; but I don't think her divulging that information would give that away.

If they had The Knights Of The Vale backing their army, they immediately have a huge advantage.

Where are Theon, Yara, and their followers going? Are they going to try and get to Dany first? At first I was thinking that may be going to find Sansa and Jon since that is where Sansa was heading.

Who right now has the power to legitimize Jon as a Stark? Anyone around him?

Yep! I lovvve that little twist. So they create the White Walkers as a sort of ultimate weapon against the First Men (or was it the Andals?? I forget when the Long Night first came right now...) and didn't realize what they were creating/lost control of them/etc. I saw somewhere else someone say that perhaps some Children of the Forest did not like the peace that was made with the First Men, and went rouge and created the White Walkers....

So my thoughts on the Bran situation from what I think is absolutely top 5 episodes overall:

Bran and the 3ER are the only Warg's to realize the true significance of their abilities, and I think it's now clear that the path may be already set without anyone knowing. The 3ER knew of Bran, he knew he would come, he knows the fate of mankind. He knows all essentially, except whether or not the path layed out can be stopped, which is the inevitable death of mankind created by the children of the forest which was explained/shown. The knowledge he has come to possess he intended on giving to Bran, a warg who is probably the only candidate he deemed worthy of taking on the role, because he is stuck where he is and cannot help fight against the white walkers. He influenced the past to bring Bran to him. The way that I am perceiving this is that Hodor's seizure as a kid was set in stone and caused by Bran before he ever existed, in which Bran's connecting to the past through his abilities has cause and effect. Bran had influenced the past without realizing it yet. It was hinted at when he called to his father who turned to find him, and is now confirmed by Hodor living with this future memory of his only purpose that literally rendered him mentally incompacitated. The Night King was always going to come for Bran, and Hodor was always going to have to be there at that moment in order to save him. Therefore, I believe that now, any and all influence the 3ER and/or Bran had on the past has now caught up to the present, and it's up to Bran to truly figure out a plan before it's too late and the Night comes.

Also how does the mark on Bran's arm work? Since he had it, the White Walkers could pass through the spells they had in place? How would that work if they went south of the wall?]

I believe the Night's King being of a an evil magic was aware of Bran's potentially "magical" ability and could sense it when it was near. He grabbed Bran, and in doing so created a connection to him and could feel where he was in the present time. Having that connection also broke the protection spell surrounding Bran and the others. I don't really believe there is anything blocking the white walkers from crossing the wall, I think they're just slowly taking over everything north of the wall first. Then heading south when there's nothing left.

Wargs are descendants of the First Men, who most likely gained their ability specifically because of the First Men's alliance with the Children of the Forest/worshipping the Old Gods/etc., so it makes since that the Night's King, also being a product of the Children's magic, would have the ability to see through it

Both of those reported episodes were fakes. Quite a few of us mods watch the show and will be in here but no one has been bad or anything.

Any ideas as to why the 3ER chose that specific point in time for Bran to experience at the end? With kid Ned apparently going off to the Vale?

Anything with timelines is obviously confusing... My understanding is that he can't actually change the past/future but he can be the cause of it? I don't even understand what I'm saying.

There's only one timeline. This episode brought it full-circle, at least to the extent that Hodor was involved

Goddamn that ending left me emotional. This season is really kicking into high gear.

That loneliness is not a function of solitude.

Maybe he just wanted to make sure that Bran was around Hodor to make that event happen as it apparently had to since he knew the White Walkers were on their way? That whole warging into him in the past was a bit confusing to me because clearly the aftermath Bran warging into him has been present ever since we've known Hodor.

I feel like we're in for some more "Bran's is actually responsible for X big event happening' w/ some weird time travel involved. Hope they don't get too crazy/confusing with that.

Edit: Any idea if Bran was only able to see things from the past while in that tree or if it's something he'll be able to do from now on?

I was wondering that too. Seemed like a real random thing to be doing when they knew the white walkers were coming for them.

Yeah but I'm saying that they didn't just go into the past to find Hodor (and then set off the chain of events that made Hodor the way that he was, which is integral to Bran's arc). There were also several seconds dedicated solely to the conversation between kid Ned and his father, and on the surface they didn't seem to give us any new information.
