I have to decide by noon if I want to interview for a promotion (and store move) at work that I 100% do not want (because of the store move).

My store manager: You deserve a promotion. But I don’t want you to leave and will give you 4-8 extra hours a week if you do and tweak your availability a bit.

My assistant store manager: Ugh, that store sucks ass please stay.

My mom: Stay and tweak your schedule.

My dad: the only way to move up in the business world is to do things you don’t want to do jobs aren’t meant to ever be enjoyable




Guess what’s stopping this from being an easy decision.

Adds 15-20 minutes to my commute, and the pay/hour rise isn’t worth the car wear and tear or extra gas/time. Also a promotion that doesn’t have insurance. It’s also at a dying, half-empty mall. It’s also a single coverage store and I really didn’t like my time as a manager at a single coverage store a few years back.
