I DO think letting this particular discussion end is the most prudent course of action (it just isn't helpful), but I wanted to say this first: you seem to want people to defend a stance they haven't taken - which is that mental health isn't serious and doesn't matter.

Here's the thing: if someone says "This isn't how this should be talked about", conflating that to mean "this doesn't matter" is a personal decision that in no way represents the actual conversation at hand. Being cavalier about self harm is not the same as questioning someone's motives for discussing it in a scenario like this one, and to imply otherwise is ignorant at best and manipulative at worst.

 

thats very disheartening if true. id like to think theyll say something but im not holding my breath. what a shame.

i feel so bad for the victim, im sure all of this is the last thing they needed

 

okay this situation is totally fucking crazy and unexpected. However if this situation is true suicidal or not Cam needs to own up to it.

 

Yeah, I guess my main point is that they aren’t separate if his health is truly serious enough to be getting emergency help, and lots of posts really read to me like they were ignoring that aspect of the discussion. His health in general is absolutely a separate discussion, but this specific instance is a more immediate issue than any of that. He needs to be healthy and here to be able to help the victim in any way she would want and face the repercussions of his behavior.

I don't know if you are a victim or not, and you obviously don't have to say so, but I'm sorry if I came off as hostile or anything like that when I asked for a source. I am a fan of that band and just wanted to know whether it was true or not.

I’ll take the cynical torch for the hour and say I’d be shocked if he actually gave an honest answer in this thread. Definitely hope he sees it and we get a statement though.

 

Getting a statement of any kind nailed down early on is important. That said, I would obviously hope that, if he responds at all, he is honest with us.

 

If management was emailed, I almost guarantee TWY didn't hear about it at all. Management's job is to shield the band from these kinds of accusations and protect abusers.

At the London show, people outside showing up in SN merch with no idea about all this. Had to tell a dude in a SN jumper about it and he seemed pretty gutted.

Seems like the rest of show is going ahead with a longer TWY set.

 

What an awful place to find something like this out. Obviously not surprising given how quick it happened and the time difference, but still really sucks.

I don't know what you're talking about re: "legal professionals" or what your overall goal is with this line of questioning, honestly. It's important to get people on the record. If you don't agree then fine. Agree to disagree.

 

...or, statements are very important both in the court of law and in the public sphere when it comes to establishing a timeline, inconsistencies, and a general narrative. C'mon.

 

I brought up a few times in here how shitty Cam's statement was, but even more so now that the victim said she DID speak with Cam about the encounter and Cam still had the audacity to put out the shitty statement saying he spoke to previous intimate partners (aka the victim) and STILL concluded accusations were baseless. What the fuck?

 

Doesn’t the timing of his statement and her comment mean that he spoke to her after releasing it? I don’t think he specifically talked to her, which was what everyone was confused and worried about yesterday. Just because he spoke to some doesn’t mean he spoke to all, especially with that “you missed one” tweet.
