It's also a near ripoff of Be Quiet and Drive. Which is totally fine by me. Both songs are amazing.

This is a good post. Emotional Drought is such an underrated song. Straight Jacket Fashion has been stuck in my head all morning too lol

I have never really listened to chevelle either. All this praise may convince me to check them out tonight!

 

i tend to like either a) their super dissonant dramatic stuff (definitely point #1 heavy) or b) the melodic heavy stuff (sci fi crimes), but i get that’s not what everyone wants from them. point #1 is definitely something we passed around a ton in our middle school since their mom was our librarian lmao

I’ve never connected the dots but I can see it. And agreed I love both

 

"Vitamin R" is their best song dqm

other than that I mostly like their chilled out grooves. They did a good job with the "Send the Pain Below" video because now I always associate that cold whispering grungy-ness with snowboarding. "Closure" and "The Red" also have that groove.

 

I feel like Chevelle was better than Linkin Park, but Linkin Park contributed more to mainstream music that wasn't there before. Hmm.

i think i agree. i think linking park is much better than people assume whereas chevelle is slightly better but yeah, i much prefer chevelle

 

Whenever I go snowboarding I always make sure Send the Pain Below is on my playlist because of this haha

again, the first three songs on sci fi crimes are fucking incredible. shameful metaphors is their best “ballad” bar none.

 

I should revisit Sci-Fi. It never stuck with me. Still haven’t listened to their latest album.
