Review was decent. Agree with the criticisms as well as the positive aspects of the record. Still not in love with the second half

 

Does anyone have the HQ version of the alternate artwork from Target?

 

Just went out and bought the CD at Target and it sounds so much better to me than the leak did, it was almost immediately noticeable.

 

The rock releases on Spotify today are buried so far down the new releases it’s absurd

 

I can only find one with the exclusive sticker on it at the moment, and it's only 900x900.

 

Planning on picking up a Target copy. Can try to get a scan up tonight.

Into my second listen now. Album is great.

 

Love that they've headed in a new direction on this one. Haven't got all the way through, but I'm enjoying this immensely.

 

I dk what that review is talking about with there not being as many big choruses I have more of these hooks stuck in my head than j ever have from any wonder years album

Is the volume for this really low on Spotify or is just me?

 

TGG was more hook heavy, and they were proud of them since they brought them all back up for Funeral.

 

Yeah I agree, the idea that this album doesn't have big choruses or good hooks is absurd.

 

I can only remember one hook from TGG off the top of my head tbh I think they're much stronger here

 

Aside from that it's a solid write up though

 

Yeah I actually came to post that - pretty obvious drop off in the second half of the record for me. Probably because the first half is so strong, but the songs including and after We Look Like Lightening are noticeably less enjoyable for me.

Like I say, the first half has 3 (at least) of the best songs of their careers (Kyoto, Sister Cities Pyramids) so it's not like it matters. But yeah.

 

Every five seconds I'm either singing this or Kyoto to myself out loud lol. By far my top two wonder years tracks of all time now

 

I think I'm comfortable saying that this is on par with TGG as my favorite TWY album. It Must Get Lonely is the highlight for me and is up there with Cigarettes and Saints as my favorite TWY song.

 

verse 2 in kyoto is so fucking good lyrically it's ridiculous.

 

The moment I go from “enjoying this” to “completely lost in this” is consistently the second chorus in Pyramids of Salt

 

The acoustic version of "Ghosts of Right Now" is really cool. Soupy sings the last chorus just a bit different and it sounds great.

 

I can't understand the lyrics in this one. Waiting for the book.

 

Finally read the Upset piece on this, going to parse through the lyrics on this next listen. I really like the concept that went behind this one.
