@teebs41 why is your band being promoted in /brandnew? The same subreddit that believes Jesse is innocent and outright brags about still listening to that band?

 

I’ll delete it, I wasn’t even thinking about what kind of message that sends when I threw it up there.

 

This was a good call.

He wasn’t condoning Jesse Lacey in promoting his own band’s work. It was a bad judgement call on his behalf, sure, but he’s had it removed now that it got brought to his attention the message it sent being posted on that cesspool.

I was just trying to play mediator, man. You know me.

 

I wanted to take a second and apologize here. Earlier this week I posted our album on the brand new subreddit hoping to spread the word about our album. It was not okay for me to post our music in that subreddit and I am sorry for that. The type of people in there shouldn’t be the type of fans I seek out for my band and that has become clear to me. I understand how it can be problematic to invite listeners that support abusers to listen to your bands music. What I did was not okay and I promise that I will be better in the future. I have deleted the post on Reddit and am going to be more mindful in the future as to where I post our music for people to listen to. Again, I am sorry and if anyone would like to discuss this matter further with me, feel free to post here or message me privately.

Hi everyone,

I don't post here much but I lurk because, yaknow, fiance. I just want to say that Teebs is the sweetest person and he never would've done any of this with malice. He has been so excited to share this record with people, and as you guys know, he's been super active on every medium trying to promote it. While I'm sure it was a lapse in judgement, I don't think he was trying to active seek out people who were supporting abusers; I think he thought people would be looking for something to fill the void Brand New left for a good portion of us. I'm not here to start drama, I just know him and he's not that kind of person. Please don't kill me when you see this @teebs41 :)

Hey Mrs Teebs! Just wanted to say that we all love Teebs. Most of us have his back and understand he wasn’t trying to do anything wrong. If I’d put out a record as good as Morning I’d be promoting it anywhere i could think of haha

 

But he was trying to do something wrong. It’s wrong to want those subhumans as fans of your band, plain and simple. Like, it’s objectively wrong. This isn’t drama, this is no different than any other member of any other band getting called out for doing something wrong. And teebs recognizes it was wrong, admitted it was wrong, and apologized:

So everyone else needs to stop making excuses for him. It happened, it was wrong, he admitted it was wrong. That’s it.

 

I'm sure he just loved you more when he saw it :)
