    Other reasons,

For me it’s like a brand new dear hunter hybrid. The jammy/guitar solo/heavy parts remind me of brand at times and how they build things and vocally mason has similarities in his lower register but I also think they pull from a lot of other great bands in the genre.

they sound more like other bands that sound like brand new than brand new themselves if that makes sense

they came up at the tail end of the wave of bands like crime in stereo and as cities burn so ive always drawn those connections first when listening

i may get better but we won't ever get well Prestigious

their earlier stuff was more Brand Newish imo, back when BN had that atmospheric dark indie sound around Devil & God and daisy they released some demos and folks speculated they were actually brand new tracks lol. but they were never one and the same imo, and less so now that they've shifted towards lighter, low key poppy songs

I've finally gotten to the moment where this is hitting me even harder now, now that I can pick out lyrical references it's springing up even higher for me.

Never really heard the Brand New sound that much aside from the HOB EP tbh...TROW is much more folk sounding and has more intricate melodies and instrumentals.

It’s the vocals and some guitar sounds. You can’t change your voice and it’s ok to be influenced by a good band. TROW obviously has some different influences too though,as was mentioned about some folk music. On the new album, only Born Blind reminds me of Brand New. Any yeah, there probably a bit of Devil and God/Daisy influence somewhere, nothing feels copied by these guys at all so I’d call the Brand New thing a comparison.

It really does say a lot that some people were fooled by the TROW demo leak a lot my while ago. Even though I knew it wasn’t Jesse’s voice, I knew I wanted to check out whoever made those demos and I’m glad I did.

once again people seem to think influence means carbon copy when that's not the case at all. brand new is obviously undoubtedly a huge influence, doesn't mean they sound exactly like them but to deny any similarities is just putting your head in the sand

Haha get on that! My best listens have been through headphones.

Also I’ve veen feeling the extended version more lately. I think it brings a bit more variety to the record.

I only listened to the standard the first time. Haven’t gone back to it since. Didn’t even put it on my phone.

I like both versions tbh. Sometimes I'm in the mood for the standard sometimes I rather go with the extended. I've been alternating and playing both.
