It's been pretty tense in here, and quiet. Tbh I think the events of the last few days were necessary. When a stranger calls you out for your behaviour, of course you instantly become defensive, or deny doing anything wrong. I'm proud of Kevo for taking responsibility and apologising. This is something I saw in the accountability in music thread a while ago but I agree with it: apologies don't have to be long!! You own up, realise where you went wrong, hold yourself accountable and add how you'll be better in the future. Making it too long can seem self serving, intentionally or not - and that's something that gets called out

One of the other problems was changing the subject when there was something more serious being discussed. Of course, it's instinct to clear up conflict by lightening the mood or talking about literally anything else. A lot of us don't know any better! But it's distracting and can seem like you don't care about bigger issues. I am not picking on anyone here or name calling. Just trying to explain everything and make things clearer. I've also heard that some people don't want to post anymore, and hey, breaks from social media are healthy. But, if you're staying away because you feel like your input isn't wanted, that simply isn't true. We all get under someone's skin at some point. One of the best things about this site is that so many people are progressive, intelligent individuals who want to educate others on social issues, and ensure that Chorus is an open-minded and aware community. Sometimes it really is best to sit back and listen to what people are saying instead of arguing or assuming they're attacking you. I've learned a lot from listening, and from being called out. I don't have hard feelings towards anyone who's called me out before, I needed it

I feel like there was a ton of miscommunication here between good people. I hope that no one actually quits chorus if you take a break, having all these different people from different places come together and interact is amazing imo. I'm here if anyone wants to chat, you all have me on social networks! Trust me, no one wants to scare you away. Helping each other learn and grow and become better people is the goal. Sorry this is so long but I've been dwelling on it all day
