  2. The closer is just Dan repeating "I'm not sad anymore" over 20 minutes worth of Frost God instrumentals

I've listened to maybe half the album and I like the songs a lot more than on the last two albums.

Don't think Kyoto is a good opener at all.

@CoffeeEyes17 Since you had a different copy of the album than the leak, is the start of Raining in Kyoto supposed to be so much quieter than the rest of the song? I thought it was a rip quality issue at first.

I have an official bandcamp download and no, it does start super abruptly, directly into the riff.

When The Blue Finally Came for me is the most "different" track they've made on this album. Makes me think of You Blew It!'s last album and the lyrics go straight into surrealism. Didn't do it for me on the first listen but I like it now.

the song just starts with that riff and Dans vocals, no buildup or anything. as far as actual volume differences i dont hear any

Interesting. The volume at the beginning sounds noticeably lower to me, maybe it’s just me haha

There’s definitely some volume automation. That’s not an error. And part of starting the record off like this is that we wanted to do something different.

Sometimes you want to mosh at 0:01.

I'm pretty sure the original Kyoto by yung lean starts with volume automation nice call sticking to the original

Haven't listened to this yet. Is the production muddy sounding?

Thanks for clarifying! This is honestly my favorite TWY opener by a mile. You guys knocked it out the park on this album.

I think this is their best record by a mile and I think The Ocean Grew Hands to Hold Me is their best song

  22. I'd actually say it's their muddiest album at some of the loudest moments (the choruses and end of Rain in Kyoto are examples), which is definitely bittersweet considering how much I'm enjoying the songwriting. I am listening to the leak and not the actual download, but comparing it between the leak and the songs on Spotify I don't hear any difference. Had to EQ the hell out of it before I really dove in :-/

I'm really loving the quieter moments on this record and would be so happy if future music followed that route. Heavy moments are great as well but the muddiness can really pull it down when it should be super impactful.

Also, the doubled drums in the verses of Heaven's Gate? The little guitar lick into the chorus of The Ghosts of Right Now? I'm swooning.

  23. How did you get the guitar sound for the lead in The Ocean Grew Hands to Hold Me?

Yeah I think the production of Kyoto sounds really off. The two singles sound better

Just finished my first full listen. I like it, and sure will love it when I make out the lyrics. I really love when this band does more mellow songs, and the ones on here like that are fantastic.

My favorite moment may be that last minute of the closer. The final lyric and music which follows got me.
