Reports: Daniel Craig Done With James Bond

Good. They all shit the bed with Spectre and after everything he said about wanting to slit his wrists rather than play the role again- I'm glad he's out.

 

Oh! No one has done this one yet!

He's my favorite Bond, but it's time. Spectre gave his version of the character a good, natural ending. I still like that film a lot. Excited to see what they do next.

 

I agree. He's the best Bond, IMO, but I won't be mad if this is the end. Casino Royale was the best, and Skyfall was really good. I look forward to who they pick next.

Idris Elba is the cliche choice online these days, but probably also still who I'd pick if it were up to me.

 

I'd be interested in Elba, but I doubt they cast him. He's probably out of the age range they're looking for at this point.

 

If they wanted to go with someone under 40, I'd probably look at Tom Hardy. Both him and Elba may be a little high-profile though. Craig wasn't known anywhere near as well as either of them are when he was cast.

 

I'm far more interested in what Director/Writer will tackle the next film than who they hire to play 007. Hopefully it's an inspired choice.

 

I heard Spectre was pretty bad. Is that the general consensus? If so, what made it so bad? Craig is easily the best Bond. Casino royale ruled and skyfall is the best bond ever

 

I'd be fine with Hardy, but yeah, I think he's too well-known. Same with Fassbender. Would rather have someone who is a bit less famous. Probably feel that way about Hiddleston too, though that one is more intriguing to me.

Reception was incredibly mixed. It's worth watching, though, if you like those two films.

I looked away from the screen as the page loaded and only saw this out of my peripheral vision at first and thought this was David Letterman before genuinely looking at it and was beyond confused at that choice.

 

Incredibly sad Daniel is done, he really got me back into the franchise. Went to the Bond in Motion museum in London this past winter to see all the Band vehicles and I got re-exciting thinking about Daniel coming back. Looking forward to seeing who is next in line.

 

Time for Idris Elba to shine as the new Bond then.

 

Fassbender or Cavil please. NO to Elba.

I want Bond to stay true to Ian Fleming's image.

 

I'm a huge Bond fan that has seen all 24 films, and to change his ethnicity would mess with the continuity of the franchise, and just makes no sense.

 

"I DON'T WANT A BLACK MAN TO RUIN A FICTIONAL CHARACTER" There, fixed it for you.

 

But it hasn't done that for years ...? The description of Bond given by Fleming has been disregarded over, and over, and over again - the history - the physical look - the additions and the things removed are undeniably changed from the "Fleming image." Let's not forget, this exact quote was used to say Craig shouldn't be Bond, because of his hair color.

 

A fictional character that has been around for over 60 years and had his appearance explicitly described in the novels and has been portrayed as such.

Would you be ok with making Scooby Doo a pittbull in the next film? A white shaft?

 

I might have to re-watch Spectre soon. It wasn't great but maybe the second time around will be better?

 

If he had been black all this time and they wanted to make him white all of a sudden there'd be an uproar.

 

His looks have stayed pretty true to the description with each actor aside from Daniel Craig's slightly lighter hair.
