Ehhh, not really. Controls were mostly fine I think, kind of janky but it’s a very loose set of controls that they adapt to a lot of different situations. Graphics, specifically the animations, are not very good. Might play better on a good PC or pspro/1x, but my experience was not very smooth. Similar to that of a Telltale game, it’s not game-breaking in any way but it’s not the best experience.

I'm not sure. Probably 3 or 4, but I wasn't playing efficiently so 2 sounds feasible if you don't fuck around like I did.

I'm nearly done with Sunset Overdrive and it has been fun. I am debating however picking up Far Cry 5 because HYPE or working through the backlog still.

I think FC5 will be my first day-one buy since TLOU.

    Play the Yakuza series

Yeah, A Way Out is a good game but definitely nothing more than that though. Gf seems to like it a bit more than me so we're gonna keep playing it, always a fun time playing a co-op game though

Finally 100% Hidden Agenda! I quite enjoyed it a lot, but it gets pretty repetitive after paying through 4-5 times hah

I played about 30 minutes of Sea of Thieves.

    Thoughts:
    - There is NO explanation for anything. None. My brother and I spent 30 minutes trying to figure it out. Maybe we're dumb...
    - Some stuff just doesn't work right? I had no weapons, but my brother did. He showed me the Armory in the lower level, so I run there and it tells me I have them. I check my weapon wheel, nothing. I try to equip with Y, nothing. I check again, nothing. After about 10-15 attempts, it's like "NO SILLY YOU HAVE THEM!!" I check "Oh.....now they are showing up...." It's like did I do something wrong? I did nothing different.

Not sure this game is for me....will put some more time into for sure, but not really setting my world on fire.

In all fairness, Fallout 4 had a lot of fair/legit criticisms. Not terrible, but definitely has issues.

Yeah there was a lot to be dissapointed about there, without being a hater. A lot of the complaints were about legit technical issues (especially on consoles) and general problems with their engine, stuff that Bethesda just doesn't seem to give a crap about. Rockstar games do not have those problems (except for GTA Online).

A lot of top tier navel gazing right now in Far Cry 5 reviews. Props to old word Ubisoft for thoroughly trolling American video game critics.

It has pretty much the standard Bethesda technical problems, and yet it was pretty much crucified by most (not all) of the general public. It's a way better game than it gets credit for, technical problems and all. And it reviewed really well. Granted, there's something to be said for the argument that "more of the same" is inherently not good, but that's not really the crux of the criticism against it; it's more harping on things that, while valid, are also things that were wrong with both Fallout 3 and New Vegas. And New Vegas gets all of the passes in the world for being just as (if not even more) broken from a technical standpoint. Just doesn't read as consistent to me, personally, and similar things happen all the time to games/movies/tv seasons/etc. So I just see a similar thing happening to RDR2 no matter how good it is.

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

My biggest complaint in 4 is I just don’t care about the story or characters at all when compared to 3 and NV. And the settlement stuff was just annoying to me, which yeah, it can be mostly ignored but it still wasn’t a good idea IMO.

The thing I'd say to that is that Fallout 4 came out many years after those games, even many years after their huge hit Skyrim, on a new generation of consoles. Saying "it was always like that" isn't a good excuse, after Skyrim they probably had time and money to fix it, but they didn't and when people complained, they got snarky. I mean, they keep releasing Skyrim every year and it's still fucking broken, haha.

I liked Fallout 4 by the way. The reason I liked it less than New Vegas is because I think New Vegas has better writing and a better setting. The fact that their both technically a mess is true, but like I said they had a lot more time, money and computing power to make Fallout 4.

There was also plenty of professional criticism against Fallout 4 by the way. I do agree that many critics and the general public have inconsistent and bad opinions, so no argument from me there.

But you're not the kind of person I'm talking about. Like I've seen some pretty irrational, rhetorically dishonest arguments since the game came out back in 2015 that just make no sense at all in context. Like, disagreements over the writing, the quality of the characters, and the story are all matters of opinion and fair to debate, but other things that are just objectively false aren't. Like calling Fallout 4 the most broken Bethesda Studios game, which I've actually seen people say (not here), for example. I was literally just watching a video on YouTube yesterday trying to make the (valid) point that Bethesda needs to stop getting a pass for releasing broken games that really hurt its own (again, valid) argument by making almost that exact statement. And speaking of, I'm not defending Bethesda's buggy games, they need to get their act together in that regard for sure, especially considering how long their games are in development for. It's not like they're cranking them out on a time crunch lol.

My original point was just that the commentariat at large tends to have a pretty selective memory when it comes to high-profile sequels of beloved games, and that I think it's highly likely that the same thing could happen to RDR2. The hype for RDR2 is way, way higher than the hype for GTAV, because it's been so long since the last one (which itself was instantly hailed as a classic and has been pretty much worshipped since it came out) and the series hasn't been running for as long as GTA has, so the potential is there. Also, GTAV itself kind of launched to a pretty mixed reaction from gamers (not necessarily reviewers) when it was only on last-gen; it wasn't until it re-launched on current gen and fixed a lot of (but nowhere near all) the problems with GTA Online that it really became what it is today. All I was saying was that the potential is there for RDR2 to meet the same kind of reaction.
