Fair enough. Like I said, I'm relatively new to really getting into music, and this is the first album I've followed the rollout for and has hit me in such an emotional way, besides The Wonder Years' The Greatest Generation.

It's different and I don't like it as much as Pt. 1.

  4. I love how in "End Of Reel," Christian's vocals for the line "the kind of thing that hangs inside a moment" go backward in the mix, blending him in with the music.

I'd definitely disagree with that. I think Home is one of the most loved albums in years for this site lyrically. I don't see anyone saying this albums hits them harder lyrically after one day then Home does to a lot of people. Personally Home is my favourite album lyrically maybe of the decade, at least since 2013.

this is me bringing my own issues to the record of course but i enjoy it a lot more now that i have a more complicated idea of it than just as a "love" record, which for like innumerable personal reasons i felt i couldn't connect to. now that i know it's kind of the inverse product of a breakup, where one feels more connected to the world instead of less, it makes a lot more sense to me

I felt like that was kind of obvious just listening to the album. I mean it's clearly not just a love album, haha. I remember expecting that and then hearing "Soft Animal" and it not making any sense.

well right, it took me a while to actually focus on the lyrics.

kinda think the hooks on this record aren't as strong as on home, still

Left the apartment this morning and listened to this on the way out to meet a friend. Walked through the city on a beautiful day, onto the subway, got out and sat down in a park to wait in the bright sunlight right as End of Reel was starting.

    Literally a perfect morning.

On first listen...yeah, it's good. I need to give it more listens on walks and drives to really connect to it.

The way that interlude goes into Soft Animal gives me chills. Might still be my favorite song on the record, so far.

There's so much on here I'm loving. My favorite right now might be "Opening Mail for My Grandmother." That one reminds me a lot of "Introduction," which was my favorite song off the last record.

cannot wait to pour over the lyrics tonight in solitude. there's a lot to unpack here but after 3 times through Sun, You In This Light and Two Deliverances are standouts. also, End of Reel holy hell what a closer.

I didn't really care for the write up. The author made it feel like they were really trying to sell the band as some super huge deal, which, from what I gather from Christian's blog posts, is not what their all about. It also paints Christian in a frame that makes them seem less well spoken than they actually are.

The lyrics really pull this thing together. So much imagery, repetition, and meaning. It's so incredible.

Can someone remind me how to do the spoiler tags? I'd like to put my thoughts on the theme of the album, but I don't want to skew someone else's interpretation.
