I really liked Pt2 too. Too early to pick favourites though.

I did part 1 into poem into part 2 yesterday for my first stream and it worked incredibly well

Also part 2 is a jam and a half

Settle the Scar is kind of blowing me away very glad I never listened to the original version much.

  5. the weird distortion/discordance or whatever added to the bridge in "Settle The Scar" is amazing--it feels like a way of disarming people who think they know what they're getting. I feel like the two versions of the song can reveal a lot between them but I'd have to look into it more. the "I was dying for a gram" ---> "I guess I lost my stable hand" seems like a weighty shift to me

This album actually reminds me a lot of the first two I Can Make A Mess albums, a comparison I wasn't expecting to make going in.

Every time I listen to an album I remotely care about for the first time, I wish I could erase my memory of hearing the singles.

I feel like it's going to take a couple months for my brain to fully realize that Settle The Scar is part of an album now. I can't really explain that, but yeah.

After listening to the live stream multiple times, listening to the clips two times through, and exhausting the singles (I know I'm ridiculously impatient), I still had an amazing first listen. Makes me think this albums going to grow on everyone a lot.

I just was about to write that my ear is finally adjusting to hearing this version of settle the scar.. It took a few listens but I am there, I'm not expecting to hear the old tempo anymore.. I think the end of the song works better at this slower tempo

Once you get used to the rhythmic entrances, guitars on the and of 2 and bass on the and of one, it works really really well..

It's cool that all of the entrances are syncopated, just follows whole concept of the album.

I've listened to the album about six times so far and it just keeps getting better. Amazing that they were able to write something that is so positive/uplifting after writing an album that is so dark. Didn't take more than one listen for this to jump to the top of my AOTY list.

Side note from the interview... I got the sense that Christian fairly controlling over the direction of the band (specifically referring to objections of the cover art and spoken word intro from the other members). Anyone else get that vibe or was I just reading into it too much?

I got that vibe completely and wouldn't be surprised if Hotelier is eventually just Christian

Yea I get that vibe totally.. Hoping the other members are just really trusting of his vision... But if it came to the point where Christian was the only member I would be a little disappointed

This album makes me want to find all of the people I love and give them a big hug. I've honestly never felt so passionate about an album. I'm a relatively new music listener (at least I didn't really start diving into music until around 5 years ago), so I was never around for the first listen of Devil and God, but I imagine this is what it felt like.

I think someone has to say it; this is the new Devil and God. I'm willing to put it on that level.
