Hey I’ve had a terrible day and reading this made me feel better for a brief minute. Being a musician, or more accurately pursuing it, has been incredibly challenging and can often feel futile, but knowing that something I’ve helped create has made this kind of impact on even one person makes me feel like my efforts thus far have been worth it and adds motivation for me to keep going.

Also, really happy you put channel orange on your list. It’s my #1 of the decade and I sometimes feel like I’m like the only living person that not only still adores it, but doesn’t think blonde totally eclipses it.

can honestly say I'd be in a much worse place without it, and I'm glad you all took the steps that led you to it's release. and it's not just me yr band has impacted btw, I've gotten some of my friends to listen and love the album too, and I don't plan on ceasing to tell others about it anytime soon.

re: Frank, I listened to Channel Orange pretty late, like I think around the time Endless came out? so I don't have any sort of nostalgia for it over Blonde, but I really enjoy both. I think thematically CO is just something that resonated with me more than Blonde has so far, and I think they're very different but yeah, I also don't think blonde eclipses CO. they're two distinctly excellent albums

It means the world, honestly. Thank you. We’re not a band that’s had much in the way of label support or press/promotion or whatever, so having people who genuinely love us spread the word about us is the main reason we’ve managed to grow.

CO was a huge record for me when it came out for a lot of reasons, and it’s hard to seperate that for sure, but at the same time I do genuinely think aside from that aspect of things that the album is more cohesive and consistent than Blonde is. Not to say I don’t love that record too, I think a lot of Frank’s best work is on it and I listen to them both constantly.

yeah, this is probably the same for me, I think the interlude type stuff go a long way to linking the different ideas of Channel Orange -- or separating them as need, I suppose. i also feel like i have to be in a specific mood for Blonde. Blonde also has the distinct disadvantage of being played often at work so while I love it, I hate having the associating with it lol.
yooo this would be so tight, an excellent stop gap between albums. I'd take it for sure

Yeah, I think that’s a big thing for me. The interludes on CO work in the albums favor for me, whereas on Blonde they kinda disrupt the flow too much for my liking, I don’t think I’ll ever like the sequencing on the back half of that album.

Just kind of going off the top of my head in no particular order (I'm sure that I'll be missing a bunch of stuff):
Hotelier - Home, Like NoPlace is There
    Hotelier - Goodness
    Yellowcard - Self-Titled
    Bayside - Killing Time
The Wonder Years - No Closer To Heaven
Lupe Fiasco - Tetsuo & Youth
A Tribe Called Quest - We Got it From Here... Thanks 4 Your Service
    Rebelution - Peace of Mind
    Kamasi Washington - The Epic
    Anti-Flag - American Fall

Wow, that was really hard to narrow down to just 10.

what's everyone checking out as a result of this thread? I'm gonna do converge, bon Iver, Jason isbell, Joanna newsome and sturgill Simpson and maybe motion city soundtrack. it's all stuff that stood out to me as stuff I hear about a lot or am passingly familiar with a song or two, or stuff I keep meaning to check out but never got around to

    yep.
Snoozefest is harsh. im mostly saying that because i feel like the rest of the album is so so strong and then for me there is a noticeable drop off in that run of tracks.

  23. cwhit

it's weaker but i still think that section is still so so good. we need more skulls? willie? idk, that whole album is still so good
