Oh man, I love Chad's voice!

Yeah, it was almost two Butch, two Jason, and two Noah, haha. Those three have definitely dominated my listening this decade. Isbell would have another one in the next five, too (though my 11 is probably American Slang).

And I liked your 1975 description. Definitely very apt.

This is a dope and different list! Definitely adding Autre Ne Veut to my "To Listen" list... never heard of them.

Yeah ten hurt tbh. I had to leave off Ledges, American Slang, Blonde, Some Nights, Gossamer... man, music's just the best isn't it?

i have a list narrowed to fifteen but i can't really cut it down from there :/ there are glaring omissions too

Man, I haven't listened to Gossamer or Some Nights in ages. Loved both of those albums back when they came out. Should revisit them.

My "painful to leave off" was the rest of my 2015 top five. I love all of those (Butch, Isbell, Noah, Dawes, Stapleton) about equally, but only Afraid of Ghosts made it.

My advice is to pretend you'd be able to never listen to them again. Which 5 could you live without?

Wow this was extremely difficult to narrow down to 10 albums. Here goes...

The Reign of Kindo – This Is What Happens (2010)
All of their albums are amazing, but the instrumentation on this one especially is incredible.
Favorite song: Comfort In The Orchestration

Zac Brown Band – You Get What You Give (2010)
I was not at all into country music (despite my fiancé’s best efforts) before this album, but after hearing “Colder Weather” on the radio I caved. This album is a monster.
    Favorite song: Colder Weather

    Transit – Listen & Forgive (2011)
Had never even heard of these guys before this album but was instantly hooked after hearing “Long Lost Friends” for the first time.
    Favorite song: All Your Heart

Marianas Trench – Ever After (2011)
Pop-rock at its finest. I could listen to Josh Ramsay sing the phone book.
    Favorite song: Fallout

    Anberlin – Vital (2012)
I am probably in the minority here, but I think this is Anberlin’s best album. What a discography these guys have.
    Favorite song: Modern Age

    Yellowcard – Southern Air (2012)
I was only a casual Yellowcard fan until hearing this album, now they are one of my favorite bands, period. They took it to another level with this one.
    Favorite song: Always Summer

Vertical Horizon – Echoes From The Underground (2013)
I hadn’t listened to Vertical Horizon since “Everything You Want” was burning up the airwaves, but I stumbled across this album and was floored.
    Favorite song: Frost

    Taylor Swift – 1989 (2014)
An undeniably catchy pop album. While “Red” contains my favorite song of hers (All Too Well), 1989 as a whole is superior in my book.
Favorite song: All You Had To Do Was Stay

The Early November – Imbue (2015)
This album didn’t hook me as quickly as the others on this list, but man, once it did I couldn’t stop listening. Every song is amazing.
    Favorite song: Boxing Timelines

The Maine – Lovely Little Lonely (2017)
Undoubtedly my favorite album of the 2010 decade so far. This one came out of absolutely nowhere for me. The Maine had completely fallen off my radar. This album changed that quickly.
    Favorite song: Taxi

Most valuable takeaway from this thread so far: Listen to Jason Isbell.

  14. Yep you gotta do that ASAP. It's not my favorite record of his, but many folks in this thread got started on the album Southeastern with him, and that's not a bad place to start if you're looking to pick up his catalog.

I'm with you. I feel like FIL's sound has progressed with my personal tastes cause most of what I listen to is more chill, but Able Bodies is so dynamic and unpredictable. It also has so many "moments" on it that make me giddy.
