Saw The Strangers: Prey At Night tonight and I actually liked it. It's not the best but I don't understand the amount of hate it's been getting. It's a really fun slasher.

 

I watched Bad Match last night. Idk if it’s exactly horror, but the elements are there and it’s entertaining to say the very least.

 

I watched it a couple weeks ago too. That was actually the worst performance I’ve seen from Lili Simmons. Not that she was ever a great actress, but then again it’s obvious she didn’t have much to work with here.

 

Psychopaths leaked! The reviews have been bad so far, sounds like it'll be style over substance but I love Keating's sense for strong imagery so I'm sure I'll like it

 

For some reason, it’s been on my university’s streaming service since January. I ought to watch it

 

She's definitely had much better roles. The movie felt pretty shallow, but honestly not at all cheesy and kinda realistic. His decisions at times were brash and over the top, but when the ending happened I was like "Holy shit that could actually happen" haha.

 

Just started Stuart Gordon's From Beyond and it's already a joy. This is going to become a favorite of mine, isn't it.

from beyond is a fun bit of trash (and an absolute treat re visual effects), but it's one of the more... flexible... adaptations of Lovecraftian mythos

 

I just watched Bone Tomahawk today. Gore was quite intense,but overall not all that great. I feel like the writing didn’t do anything for any of the actors, but she wasn’t noteworthy there either

 

I'm FINALLY watching Phantasm.

Snow days really are the best.

 

Just got back from seeing the new Strangers movie. It was stressful and pretty scary, but there were lots of dumb shit too where I was like “why?!?” Haha. But it was entertaining overall.

Baskin was fun, but not very well laid out. unfortunately, it's obvious that it was updated from a short film - there are bursts of storytelling that don't quite go anywhere, and the last... 30-40 minutes of the film are just kind of a blaring constant noise. great effects and atmosphere, but cut the fat by half or give us a more consistent set of themes and characters to focus on.

 

Baskin is one of the greatest missed opportunities in film imo. they could have done so much more with it

 

Anyone seen this? Worth watching, or is it just complete nonsense?

 

Mom and Dad was great as was the editing, but I am a big fan of the Crank films

Baskin was pretty creepy, definitely stalled out at the ending. could have been better but still great imo

 

Today I just started the Horny 4 Horror podcast and listened to the first one and the interview with Freddy Krueger... liking this so far.

 

I guess we're getting another iteration of The Grudge. Being written and directed by Nicolas Pesce, who did The Eyes of My Mother.
