I used to love that show.

 

Thank you for sharing that. I wasn't trying to open a can of worms by talking about Brand New. At the same time I don't know why I somehow feel like I should be ashamed for bringing them up on here.

A connection with any band is a very personal thing and increasingly more complex the more that bands means or in this case meant to you. I'd be lying if I said things are not different now. Of course they are, they have changed forever and will never be the same again. The whole situation still makes me very sad tbh. But at the same time like anything thoughts on something can evolve over time. And I chose not to punish myself for something that is not my fault. Anyways sorry for the rambling post.

 

I wonder if AOF will ever release a follow-up to Old Crows/Young Cardinals.

Haha, no worries! I did have a good labour day yesterday. Monday is already my day off but it isn't for the rest of my family! Stayed home and didn't get up to much. Thanks for asking :)

 

Yeah I thought about it after I said that technically the follow up was Dog's Blood but I mean a proper full length follow up not just an EP.

I just want to say some things re: Brand New

It's okay if you still listen to them! You shouldn't feel guilt for enjoying or finding solace in music! If you listen, cool, just acknowledge that Jesse's actions were wrong and terrible and will never be acceptable, or covered up, ever again. I know someone who listened to them while undergoing cancer treatments and multiple sexual assault survivors who cope with their trauma by listening to their music - that's their choice, as long as they're not defending Jesse, they're not doing anything wrong. I did listen to Science Fiction a few weeks ago on a terrible day and honestly, listening made me feel worse because it's just not the same anymore. Don't feel ashamed for listening to a band that brought us all together. You all have your own experiences with this band and that doesn't disappear! Listening to them isn't the same as supporting them + defending what Jesse did

 

It's possible though, they are booking big festivals this year, last year all their side projects were pretty quiet and all the members were spotted in studios at some point. Bring on a surprise AOF album please.
