That's true, and somehow Max Bemis was featured in The Pitch. I just thought Brand New's attitude towards American press had maybe rubbed Pitchfork the wrong way since post-Deja, despite garnering select mentions in recent years. Not to mention emo not being thought of highly for so long.

 

Exactly why Pitchfork has always rubbed me the wrong way. So lame

 

they have almost a half million plays on the new song in a couple of days though... gotta get dem page views

I used to despise Pitchfork for the longest time, but over time I began to understand more of why they did what they do. Is it political? Absolutely. However, they've gotten better about not completely lambasting records or artists like their reviews from the late 90s and early 00s used to do.

It's just good to see them continuing to expand their coverage and recognize that there's good music being released in scenes previously blacklisted.

Due to their love of Thursday I was really hoping to see them review No Devotion. That album was great and really seemed to get overlooked massively.

 

that was still pre-them doing anything with this scene though

They mostly trashed the scene until Ian Cohen was hired

 

nah, Ian was hired in 2007, it took until the "emo revival" got some buzz in 2012

 

The only Thursday album I thouroughly enjoy and go back to.

 

I didn't and still don't think a 6.9 was that bad. That's probably about what I would give it today, too.

No I was talking about No Devotion Geoff's newest band. I could never see why they chose something so similar to No Devolucion haha

As much as we hate the term "the emo revival" brought attention to these bands that they just didn't get in the past

 

i think it's sort of the other way around, the term "emo revival" was made by these blogs/sites who just didn't realize this music existed until it got cool

 

We live in a world where Pitchfork would give a higher score to a Brand New song than I would. Weird world. Crazy things happening. I blame Trump.

 

Alright I really need to stop listening to this song before I overplay it to myself.

I really don't understand the people that don't like it much, but that's different tastes I suppose.

 

I don't really see what about it is appealing to someone.
