I always get pumped when they announce new characters but I’d probably end up not using them at all and sticking to my homies Villager and Ness.

I sold my Wii U because I was playing too much Smash. Uh-oh...

 

alright so heres my totally wrong predictions but i will try to justify them purely based off of Nintendos history and specifically Smash plus some things that Sakurai has said he wished was in previous iterations

An ARMS character: feel like this has a super easy translation to a Smash character, I'd imagine Springman would be the top pick. aside from Splatoon this series is surprisingly popular with people as far as a newer Nintendo IP goes. theres a silouhette in the trailer that kinda looks like Springman but its probably Marth or somebody

Dillion The Armadillo: another pretty popular newer IP from Nintendo. hes a throwback to old platforming mascots and he has a cool southern charm to him. i could see some projectile attacks for his special, maybe roll up into a ball as a defensive special, idk he could throw dirt in someones eyes to make them miss their attacks or use some of his weps from his games.

Ice Climbers: this just seems like a given. despite the lame limited tech excuse we got from the last game, now that they wont have to worry about a 3DS version we should get these guys back. pls fix chain grapple

Captain Toad: really popular series and its about time Toad jumps into the fray. while im kinda over the saturation of Mario characters in Smash id still love to see the little guy in the game

Crash Bandicoot: ok this one is a curveball BUT since the Crash remakes have hit Switch i think it would make perfect sense to put Crash in. i think hes getting an Amiibo too and that seems like a good sign that a character may become a Smash character down the line.

literally any Castlevania character: this one is the most unlikely due to Konami being asshats BUT if Nintendo could somehow negotiate the rights to use a Castlevania character that would be sweet. i think a Belmont would make the most sense, probably Simon or Trevor.

Isaac from Golden Sun and/or Shovel Knight from, well, Shovel Knight: these are easy picks that have all the signs of a future Smash character. Amiibos, one is a forgotten beloved Nintendo franchise much like Kid Icarus and Punchout were, the other is a popular cult classic that has been requested numerous times much like Bayonetta and Shulk were.

A Monster Hunter: this would be really fun. MHW has been a MASSIVE success and it would only make sense to put a hunter into the game. i think Nintendo still has a hand in the MH franchise and im guessing theyre still in some sort of agreement with Capcom so i could see this happening.

Ok now these are characters i WANT but will almost certainly not make it in:

Bomberman
Daniel Fortesque (we miss you MediEvil)
Solaire
Qbert
any Insomniac/Naughty Dog/Sucker Punch mascot, preferably Ratchet/Clank but Jak and Sly would be rad


id also like to see Snake, Bayonetta, Cloud, Ryu, and all the Fire Emblem characters from Smash WiiU return but that might be unlikely
