Anyone listen to Travis on the Kevin and Bean podcast yet? I'm about to start it

 

I haven't listened, but I'm pretty sure he just announces the 2nd show at the Forum.

 

yeah if the podcast is the same as the live show from yesterday, then that's all it is. just Travis announcing a second show at the Forum in LA. they pretty much only talk about the Weenie Roast show.

I always loved this name drop, mainly because I love both bands but it was cool because they were from the same era/age so it was more a shout out to friends as I took it, not sure if they are or not.

 

And that's exactly why I always thought 10 or 11 tracks are perfect for an album

 

But all the songs together is like 42 minutes which is pretty standard for a full length album. And I hate the idea of there being filler because they had so many other tracks, and they couldn't all agree on which ones to include. So that must mean that there's some great songs that didn't get picked.

 

Yeah, I don't really buy the idea of a 42 minute record feeling too long, but we'll see.

 

TIL I actually don't mind (artist) name-dropping on punk/rock songs.

My knee-jerk reaction would probably be that it's a distraction from the music, but after seeing all of these examples, I'm really OK with it, if done right I suppose.

 

Well yea, usally the songs that don't get picked are the best ones. Well to me at least.

 

Worst name drop?
"We'd make out in your mustang to Radiohead"

 

To me, the fact that they're contemporaries makes the line even more lame/cheesy.

Some other ones I thought of:
The Lawrence Arms song that has Trusty Chords by HWM (I'm pretty sure it's on Oh Calcutta)
That song by some Philly Man Overboard contemporary (Bright and Early?) that has Just Rock and Roll by Midtown

 

"Singing radiohead at the top of our lungs" is worse, in my opinion haha

 

I've never listened to any of these bands getting name dropped in here haha.

Kat started at WFNX in Lynn, MA where I interned. I don't know if I met her, but we know the same people :)

I'm sort of baffled that there continue to be arguments over joke songs in a blink 182 thread.

 

Simply being blink 182 doesnt excuse discussion

 

I realize that, but we've now had this same discussion multiple times. It may have been a productive conversation the first time, but now we're beating a dead horse. Again, I'm sorry that folks find the content offensive, but I really don't know what else to say.

 

Probably the funniest thing I've seen all day. Legitimately LOL'd.

 

I'm struggling to decipher the meaning here, Brad. Quite frankly it's freaking me out because I can't stop staring at it. Haha
