Going to shows alone is not all that bad, particularly now that smartphones exist to fill the time between sets. Also high five for setting boundaries!

 

It's been a really tough few weeks for my mental health and my relationship. Feeling sorta worthless and very weak

 

for those on medication - what do you use to remind yourself to take your meds everyday? I'm forgetting way too often so I think I need a new system

 

i put my meds somewhere i know i'll see them every single day. for me thats on my desk next to my computer

 

Things are really not going well for me.

 

My wife is suffering from severe post-partum depression. She is taking it out on me and making rash decisions and saying awful things to me. It's making so depressed and wishing I didnt stop taking my meds. I have no meds, I have no weed, I have no one to really talk to. I'm just so lost and depressed. I feel for her that she's going through something that I could never understand or relate to but it's really hurtful for her to say I'm a shitty person. When I ask her to expand on it, she says she doesn't want to talk about it. I just don't even know what to do anymore

my father tried to guilt trip me about visiting via text today. threw me for a loop. i'm choosing to ignore it for now, and might just text back with the truth: even if i wanted to, i don't have the money or flexibility for a trip east this summer.

@Larry David is your wife aware that she's suffering from post-partum? Is she taking any steps to help herself? You're not a shitty person, she knows you're not a shitty person, it's that depression man. It warps you.

 

always here if you want someone to talk to. You're not a shitty person and you and your wife will get through this

 

I found out that I'm likely going to become homeless in july. My mom and I got into a big fight with ended with me calling her out for her abusive manipulation tactics and her saying "fuck you. you have closed the door in my face. I am done." oh also this was in the context of a conversation about her being worried about my mental health lol!!

 

I never know if liking a post in here will be taken the wrong way or not, so I just want you all to know if I like your post in this thread it's a sign of "I get you/I love you/I know what you're feeling/I see you/thinking of you" and that I really wish I knew what to say to help in some way.

 

She had said early in that she thought she might be suffering from it but she never said anything to the doctor. Do I come out and bring it up to her again? I don't even know

If it's affecting you like it sounds like it is, yes, I think you should say something. I'm sure she doesn't like feeling that way either. I know I hate it when I get in one of my spirals, as I call them.

 

That said I have no idea when is a good time to talk to your wife

no but I assume you are thinking I live with her. I don't. Last year she bought a condo for me to rent from her. I recognize that I am privileged by this, but when she bought it she pretty much made me promise that I would live there until I was finished with school (4-5 years) which was fine by me because I really can't afford anywhere else.
Now she's randomly saying she's going to sell it even though it's only been barely over a year. Like I said I can't really afford anything else so I'm going to be pretty screwed.

 

yes i sure did assume that! my bad. sounds like it'd be a great setup if not for your terrible, terrible landlady. hmmmm

 

what are the rental laws where you are? even if you aren't on the lease there are rules (at least here in CA) about that stuff. if you've lived somewhere a certain length of time you are considered a tenant and have rights

 

right now we have a month to month agreement and I paid through july. so she is basically telling me in july she's putting it on the market.

 

make her put it in writing. i bet it needs to be in writing.

 

sorry i hope i'm not being weird or mansplainy or anything, shit like that just really chaps my ass and if she's gonna be difficult i say be "difficult" right back

I don’t know the best way to bring it up, but she should definitely tell her doctor.

 

Anyone here ever try mindfulness meditation? It's been at times really helpful for my struggles with depression and anxiety. It's practical and lacks a lot of the new age spiritual crap that turns me off from a lot of the wellness movement. It's not a cure but can help an over active mind and has helped me realize when my brain is attacking. Stay strong everyone, I'll be turning 30 soon, something I wasn't sure I'd reach but I'm still here and you are too. If anyone ever needs to vent you can message me, I think I am a good listener.
