@NationalPhenomenon @Kevin360 really enjoyed reading both of your posts on your thoughts so far. You both had sections is like to copy and paste and give a big thumbs up to that I completely agree with, but I'm on mobile. But I enjoyed both!

I pretty much agree with this 100%. Jesse definitely lands more hits than misses as far as lyrics go. I feel like Vin suffers from trying to be too deep at times. And love the Thursday example. They were the band that got me really paying attention to lyrics.

I think Black Honey illustrates your point really well. If it had better lyrics it would probably be a great song, as is its just a good song.

Happy 100 pages of Brand New!:wine:

Yeah I have nothing to contribute. I think I'll just go listen to more BN again.

For me Brand New lyrics hit the spot more than any other bands. Certainly more than Thursday and a touch more than Thrice

Same. Although Thrice is certainly close most of the time. I see people saying that the new Blink single is way better than I Am a Nightmare, and while I love Bored to Death, the lyrics (like most blink songs) don't mean a thing to me. Even though I Am a Nightmare is more simplistic than most Brand New songs, I still feel like I can dive into the lyrics and connect with them in a way that I can't to many other bands.

Yeah Brand New lyrics definitely hit the spot. I can probably write an essay on just Jesus Christ. It's a song I've listened to thousands of times, and I still find myself stopping and being impressed by the lyrics.

I guess I need to be careful and this song is sneaky catchy. It was stuck in my head this morning when I was trying to fall back asleep

I love the new Brand New single's lyrics but I keep on hearing something about "among alien dudes" in the bridge which is making me laugh

"You never worked well with our group
Not with the faults we found
So we fixed you with cement galoshes
No one can save you now
Unless you have friends among fish
There'll still be no air to breathe
You could drink up the entire ocean
I'll still find someone to be everything we know that you'll never be"

This and the "I died for you one time, but never again" lyrics in Limo are my favorite Lacey lyrics ever

I know you're coming in the night like a thief
But I've had some time alone to home my lying technique
Girl I know you think I'm someone you can trust
But I'm scared I'll get scared and I'll swear I'll try to nail you back up

The whole of TDAG is like lyrically brilliant, could quote any song

My favorite is definitely "and in the choir I saw our sad messiah, he was bored and tired of my laments, he said I'd die for you one time but never again"

Just wanted to say that this is how I feel pretty much to a T and I'll echo the love for Thursday by saying that Geoff writes some of the most powerful lyrics I've ever heard/read.

Aha I've always heard it for some reason lol

Was going to point out on your lyric it was "I died" and not "I'd die" but didn't want to be a dick ;)

Does anyone remember some kid on MySpace quoting the lyrics to Limousine then putting a picture of the actual crash underneath it? Talk about the height of bad taste.

"You've set on me, but you are not the sun"

For the longest time I never knew what he said there, but heard it clearly one day while driving and it just really clicked. The whole idea of "You left, but the world doesn't revolve around you."
