Here are my thoughts on the back half of the Breaking Benjamin's album Dark Before Dawn:

    Bury Me Alive
This is a little bit of a departure from the previous 6 tracks since there are some unclean vocals in the verses as well as the chorus. Bury Me Alive is definitely one of the more aggressive tracks so far - right up there with Breaking The Silence. I will say this about Breaking Benjamin though - they do know how to write a catchy chorus. I'd say this is one of my favorites on the album so far.

    Never Again
I was surprised that they decided to cover the classic Nickelback song this is not a cover of the classic Nickelback song! This track (along with Failure and Angels Fall) also peaked at #1 on the Mainstream Rock chart). I feel a bit like a broken record at this point, but the chorus is another pretty catchy one. However, it does sound pretty similar to some of the other tracks on the album. I think that the most interesting parts of the songs have typically come in the 30 seconds or so between the second chorus and the bridge. Otherwise, it's a bit formulaic at times. That being said, it seems to be a formula that is working well for them! I don't really want to get into this any more at the moment. I'll save my final thoughts until the end (a good place for final thoughts to be).

    The Great Divide
I liked this one quite a bit - I thought the softer vocals heading into the final chorus worked pretty well. The outro instrumentation was also pretty solid. I don't really have much else to say about this track that I haven't said about other tracks!

    Ashes Of Eden
At nearly 5 minutes, this is the longest song on the album up to this point. If I'm not mistaken, I think this is one of the songs that @JediMasterKevo182 has selected to be played at his wedding (or reception). @JediMasterKevo182 please correct me if I'm wrong! This is definitely a ballad, but I think it works really well as it's really the first of its kind on the album. The lead vocals really shine through on this track. The vocal layering on the final chorus really works well too. This is one of my favorite tracks I've heard on the album up to this point.

    Defeated
After the ballad, I expected something on the aggressive side and that's exactly what I got. The instrumentation on this album has been very solid. While it may be a bit formulaic at times, they do what they do well.

    Dawn
I've reached the final track on the album and it's slightly under 2 minutes long. This is a nice outro track to the album and it's pretty calm and soothing. Similar to Dark there are sung vocals, but no words.

    My Final Thoughts:
All in all, I found this to be an enjoyable Modern Rock/Radio Rock album. Out of the 12 total tracks, there were a total of 10 actual songs (taking out the intro track Dark and the outro track Dawn) of which I would say that there was 1 ballad (Ashes Of Eden), 3 "aggressive" songs (Breaking The Silence, Bury Me Alive, Defeated) and the remainder of the songs are more or less mid-tempo songs with catchy choruses. To be honest, after one listen, I have a hard time remembering some of the songs apart from each other. They were good, but a lot of the tracks sounded so similar that it's a bit difficult to differentiate them.

While that may be a bit critical, I do want to emphasize that I thought that the music was solid. Personally, I would have just liked them to take a few more chances and to diversify their sound a bit.

I would recommend this album to anybody who has ever liked a Breaking Benjamin song and for anyone who enjoys Modern Rock/Radio Rock with plenty of catchy hooks.

My favorite tracks on first listen (in no particular order) were Hollow, Bury Me Alive, and Ashes Of Eden.

Ok @JediMasterKevo182 the ball is in your court now! Catch for Us the Foxes is next up for you! No rush :)
