mike kennedy drums on the first two tracks have been REAL GOOD

 

First thing that stuck out to me on this new one

 

very very good chorus and bridge that makes up for a nearly unlistenable verse and intro

 

Song is amazing wow!!!

jesus christ could you get more hyperbolic than this

 

joining the herd and saying this is the good stuff, exactly what I wanted but couldn't ever articulate

Right on. 2/2 so far. Doubt I’ll listen to any more until I can spin it.

 

Like I love every part but I know soupys singing really grates on some people because well it used to grate on me so I can see the verse and intro not being enjoyable to listen to

 

"unlistenable" should be reserved for the very bowels of musical hell, it's about the harshest criticism one could possibly offer, i see it thrown around so loosely it's almost not even a criticism anymore

 

Lyrical content on both songs has been a pretty incredible step in a different direction for Dan. There is way less specific imagery and more impressionist, ethereal stuff that has this urgent sense of feeling to it. He's wrangling with the idea of comfort and taking up space in relation to the natural world on both of these--"I feel weightless in the valley like I'm everywhere at once," "And I’m helpless, and you’re drowning, and I’m beating at the water here so desperately," the image of a bird screaming from inside a ribcage--it feels so well crafted. I am so excited to dig into the lyrics of this album.

i certainly could. i could say it’s the worst verse in the history of music and no one should ever make another song because of it. you could certainly agree that is more hyperbolic, right shrek?
