I'm seeing Listener and Levi the Poet TONIGHT and I cannot contain my excitement!

Lucas, have you heard this song by Jason Upton? I hadn't checked out a Jason Upton album for years but I've been listening to this one a lot, mainly due to this spoken word track (I think it's my current most played song for 2018). It's just so chilled and dripping with wisdom:

The album is pretty good - love the atmosphere he's created with it. There's another spoken word piece as part of the opening track too which is good.

Bless you man. Hope your mom is ok. Been thinking of you both.

    I. love. this.

My mom's okay but still in the hospital. We're all hanging in there. Taking things one day at a time, which is a good practice in general. Thank you friend.

ALSO LEVI THE POET. Incredible live show. Captivating. And I got to speak to him before and after the show which was nice.

I saw this on a reddit thread and I'm curious how many of you this question resonates with, but do you feel like your music listening has significantly diminished in the light of Podcasting becoming more popular? I have been so out of the loop for the past 4 years of music because I mainly just listen to podcasts.

On a similar note, what Podcasts are you listening to if you're listening to them?

    Fight the long defeat.

Podcasts certainly compete with music while commuting, for me.

I'm probably most diligent in following the Bible Project's podcast, which is fantastic, but I dabble in a few others. I've heard good things about Doctrine & Devotion, though I should admit I've only listened to an episode or two.

As for less spiritual podcasts, NPR's How I Built This and Off Camera with Sam Jones both produce great episodes pretty consistently.

I listen to a bunch of board game podcasts. But I’m also an avid listener to Dan Koch’s podcasts.

I'm a Doc and Devo fanboy at this point... I went to the conference last year! I heard a lot of good things about The Bible Project though, I might need to look into it!

As for non-spiritual, I really enjoy This American Life... I'll have to check out those other NPR ones!

Yes and no for me - I definitely listen to music less but it still occupies a big place in my life. Whereas I used to only listen to music I know listen to a podcast on my walk to work and music at other points of the day!

My favourite Holy Week album is Cool Hand Luke's Of Man. I love listening to that album around this time of the year.

Anyone else got any favourite albums or songs that help you connect with this week as we reflect on the Christ's journey to death and then resurrection?

I'm not necessarily talking about the standard worship track but more about artistic portrays of the story. But I'll take either if you've got some good suggestions.

John Mark McMillans "Death in His Grave" has been my go-to Holy Week song for a while now.

I really don't think it gets any better than Of Man. That album is...an experience. There's nothing else like it and it's mind-boggling to me that no one has done anything like that before or since. Each song captures the mood of each part of the story perfectly. I weep every time.

(I thought Cora was super underrated btw. I know a lot of people who really didn't like it, but it grew on me and I love it now. It's no Of Man but it was never going to be.)

I'm psyched for Andrew Peterson's new album (in other news, grass is green) and I'm looking forward to breaking it out every Easter in addition to all the other months (lol). I can't think of anymore right now but I'll be back.

    I love that song.

I quite like this version from the live album (with Bryan & Katie Torwalt):

Sadly didn't enjoy Cora as much as I expected I would.

As for Of Man, it really is a masterpiece (and I don't use that word lightly).

Incidentally, have you heard of this project from Poor Bishop Hooper? I'd say it tackles a similar level scope to Of Man (in this case a song from each 'station of the cross'. I remember listening to it on Good Friday for the first time last year and being really moved by it.

I need to hear this song - haven't come across it before.

Brilliant track - thanks for reminding me of it.

    You really do!

I've never checked out Of Man before. Doing that now.

I've been listening to Kings' "Alive" all week. Such a great 'eff you' song to death.

I was trying to explain to a friend the other day how Beyond Control was Kings first original material album, but he looked at me as if I was talking in a foreign language. That is true, right? Pretty sure I heard that somewhere.
