This is fucking great.

 

Waxwork was a lot of fun. Wayyyyy more lighthearted and fantastical than I expected, but for the best. I would've fucking loved it as a kid and wish I would've rented it way back when because I definitely saw the VHS in the days of Blockbuster


it also probably would've been rated PG if it weren't for the tonally-incongruous gore lol

 

I caught Annihilation last night. Excellent movie, more sci-fi thriller than horror.

 

Mentioned this in the movie’s thread, definitely reminded me of John Carpenter’s The Thing

 

Wasn't aware.

Looks like I'll be watching this March 12 on Netflix, but I def would've preferred seeing it in the theater.

 

What are some of your favorite horror short films?

Bedfellows is up there for me. Also the original Lights Out, of course.

 

Any Netflix horror recommendations? I tried to watch some horror movies from there and they were really bad. Need some advice first as I dont wanna waste my time.

I second Veronica and The Ritual.

 

Last time I checked it still is.

That film suddenly gets so draining towards the end. It gives me a headache every time I rewatch for some reason, yet I still do it.

I also recommend The Invitation.

 

I just did not care for that movie. Very forgettable.

 

I really liked the Invitation.

Personally I think Netflix has started to dwindle having many great titles in order to give their own content more attention. Horror being a genre that already suffers from shallow and low quality movies, it doesn’t help they only ever have like 3-4 decent ones at a time in the sea of terrible movies that is the Netflix horror tab.

the descent 2 wasn't terrible, but it never had a chance of matching the first one

shudder too. shudder's got the "north american" ending, so that the sequel makes sense in the first place

 

I just read reviews. Says it doesn’t top the first, but the first is probably the only great/original horror piece that came out around that time so the bar was already set really high. Will watch this tonight.

 

it doesn't, but i enjoyed it. ending could have been better.

 

A Cure For Wellness was ... something.

 

Such a weird film. I don't even know where to start.

 

The second descent is awful imo but I felt that the premise of the sequel was faulty to begin with so I had a hard time giving it a chance
