I was there too, only I was a senior in high school. I remember Stroke 9 played a pretty fun set and the crowd was really into them. Unwritten Law from what I remember was the most popular band on the small stages because Seeing Red was big around that time. GC was just about ready to get huge too but they were still a few months away from releasing Young & Hopeless.

The year before was a great line up too, it was blink, NFG, Sum 41, Good Charlotte along with others. My friends got to meet Travis but I missed out because I was on the other side of the venue and it was before cell phones were a thing where everyone always had one all the time.

    It's a shame 104 Fest basically ended after 2002.

  2. I remember hearing on the billboard podcast I think that blink's marketing was genius. All the vinyl came with a CD, too and all tour tickets came with a CD and I think those all counted toward album sales so while I love blink, I would consider it slightly padded. Genius, though.

Interesting. Don't forget the Deluxe album probably helped pad those stats too.

blink also had the hype of a new band member behind the record.

Green Day had little to no lead up promo for RR. I feel like it flew under the radar for being their most solid release since American Idiot.

Damn, lots of CT natives in here I guess. I was also at the two radio 104 fests that blink headlined!

Where are you guys getting confirmation Blink closed every show? It was always billed as a co-headliner and from what I remember they alternated headlining spot each night.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. I don't remember hearing about it at all, although I would be lying if I said I really paid attention. I feel like Green Day is one of those bands that will never not play gigantic shows even if they never sold another record.

I listened to it a couple times and it just did nothing for me. "Still Breathing" comes on the radio every now and then and I cringe at the lyrics. I don't know if it was actually written by someone else but BJA seems to have no real emotion in his delivery of those lyrics.

I went to that tour 3 times and never got a cd. I also ordered the vinyl and didn't get a cd with that. You sure that's accurate?

Saw unwritten law last week funnily enough. Went off. Self titled in full plus hits

Nice! Sounds like a hell of a show. I've only seen them live twice. Would really like to see them again but they never seem to play near CT anymore.

Maybe he's talking about how if you ordered a physical copy of the album (CD or vinyl) through their website they sent you a digital download copy of the album too so it counted twice for album sales.

I ordered the CD through the site and got the digital copy the day the album dropped and also went through their site to get tour tickets but didn't get a physical or digital copy of the album.

Oh gotcha. But yeah getting a digital copy of an album you ordered physically definitely does not count as two album sales.
California sold well because they had a huge sold out summer tour and two number 1 songs to support it. No gimmicks.

    Things have changed.

Oh, but it does if the download is redeemed. Double counting is everywhere.

  17. IDK I have lik 5 copies of CA laying around the house. Perhaps it was the vinyl presale or something? I forget the details but I own WAY too many physical copies of that CD so that made a lot of sense to me

  18. I'm just second hand remembering what I heard on a podcast months ago. Made sense to me at the time since I have so many damn CA cds laying around. I think it might be the VIP that came with a CD come to think of it so while not a HUGE number, still a considerable amount of duplicates

Couldn’t find info on price... but it was one of two guitars given to the guys in Kut U Up to play during the Pop Disaster Tour. This was who sold it and how the guy has it in his possession.

So jealous. The Josie one is out there in the wild too.

Fun question: if you could own any of blink’s instruments, which would you pick?

Tom: BCR Red ES-335 or his orange baritone strat (which he ruined and painted before selling).

Mark: Lettuce or his Crayola Baby-Blue Jaguar bass.

Travis: That drum setup with the Cadillac symbol was always beastly.

  24. I just listened to a mix of Neighborhoods and California songs on shuffle and I have to say... I liked the Neighborhoods songs a lot more tonight.

Toms surf green 2000 era strat
I tried to win it and marks pink strat bass in a Comp and you know when you’re convinced you will win. I didn’t and have never let go
