Now this is just me and everyone is going to deal with things differently. But I still find myself occasionally listening to science fiction and the devil and god.

This was my favorite band, just like a lot of other fans I felt a odd connection to this band. I always put Jesse up on a pedal stall in the “emo” scene. I always like how cryptic the band was, and how easily they could cause chaos on social media just by a simple post. We waited so long for SF and it seemed like Brand New was coming to a end and their final album was a masterpiece. I never thought it would end like this.

We found out Jesse is not the person we thought he was, and the sad part is will never truly know what happened and how far it really spread. But brand new will always hold a place in my heart, I still enjoy some of the music and that will never change. But i refuse to support this band publicly anymore and I will never spend a dime on the band again. But I can’t take back the memories and the amazing live shows.

 

Haven't listened to the band since August. Don't miss it.

It really does make me kind of angry how much I love the band's sound. I don't go out of my way to listen but every once in a while they'll come on shuffle.

 

Apparently they scrubbed their website? Guess theyre just gonna choose the "fade away" option

 

I was the biggest fan of this band on earth and I haven't even noticed their absence from my rotation.

I threw my shirts out and am selling my vinyl. Enough time has passed for me to realize listening to this band will never be the same or fulfilling again and I need to let go

 

Same. Haven’t been tempted once to listen.

I am sort of proud at how I was able to just turn off that desire to hear their music. It’s weird.

 

Sometimes I get the temptation to listen to a few SciFi songs because dammit they’re so fucking good but I haven’t caved yet.

 

God I just skimmed the subreddit. I know we've had some wild cards come through here but I'm so glad the vast majority of people on this website "get it" for lack of a better phrase

 

I listened to Science Fiction once at the end of the year and it just felt weird. I actually felt like the music changed, I don't know I've ever really had that happen

 

TDAG being my easy favorite album ever, I was impressed at people that could instantly say they were done listening to them cause I couldn't just go cold turkey. But I listened to TDAG once the week after and haven't even listened to one song, or had the urge to since then. And this time of year is prime Brand New listening time for me.

 

I haven't listened since this all came to light. Occasionally I will have one of their songs pop in my head, but it just makes me remember what Jesse did, and what the other band members have not done in response to that, and it goes away pretty quickly.

 

I skip every song when it comes on after I shuffle. I made it through Brothers, that use to be my favorite song of all time and I suppose the sadness and loss of the song is fitting. TDAG was my favorite album ever too. Just knowing that here was this 25 yo f*cking with 14-15 yo's heads while he was writing this loses all emotional depth and sentiment that comes from within the songs.

 

I wish these guys would stop popping up in my Spotify artist radio stations.

 

Threw my only band merch in a bonfire at a lake the other day. Felt good. Fuck you, Jesse.

 

This is going to sound insane and untrue coming from me but...I actually don't really listen to them in general at this point in my life outside of a live setting so this hasn't been that bad?

Personally, I miss running the Archive and connecting with fans and that bond. Now anything I say I just get yelled at. Honestly pretty deflating to think of all the time, effort, and energy I put into it only to see how this may be ending. Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah, yes I know I'm not the victim in all of this, but I'm just saying.

 

No, you worked insanely hard on that archive and it’s so impressive. I downloaded a ton of shows from it and it brought me a lot of joy. Thanks for your hard work, and eff anyone who says you can’t feel the way you feel.

Im sorry, that comment was poorly worded. I understand everything that’s already come out, I just worry there’s even more that we haven’t heard yet. We have no idea how many females he’s been grooming. A few have come out, I’m sure those girls weren’t the only ones.

We are all on the outside looking in and truly have no idea how deep this really goes. Jesse admitted he’s done some very fucked up things in his life. But never got into specifics. Jesse and the people involved are the ones that truly know how fucked up and sickening it got. I feel like there’s still some nasty information out there that we haven’t heard yet.

 

Man it was so nice not seeing this thread on the first page in the Music Forums. How long did we go? A couple months at least. Oh well.

 

Every now and then i'm tempted to let a song play that comes on on shuffle, but i skip it. I sold my records and covered them up on my guitar.

 

Was it ever determined whether PPL MVR had anything to do with members of this band? Just saw them post tour dates and a new music video on Facebook and I don't know whether to be furious or not.

 

Wouldn't put it past these scumbags to try and still have a career wearing masks and costumes, to be honest
