"Seven Years" is the only good song and the only one I ever go back to. The rest is pretty meh to me.

I've tried many times. I think part of the problem is that "Seven Years" is so damn good and it can never again reach those heights.

Not a hot take. It's well-considered and developed over the course of 15 years.

Sleepers is a top 3-5 Saosin song and alone makes that album worth it. Not to mention the rest is great too. In search is underrated as well.

I'm re-listening right now. On the title track and Anthony sounds pretty bad (did he have a cold? He sounds stuffy), the melodies are clumsy, there's way too much going on in the chorus, and the guitar in the verses is real cheesy.

3rd Measurement in C: better, but it's just mediocre early-00's post-hardcore. Nothing special. If I didn't know Anthony's voice so well I'd hardly be able to tell it was them.

Lost Symphonies: This one starts off cool, but then that terrible echo-y gang vocal thing happens. After that it gets better again, when Anthony's melody sounds like something from Circa. But the guitar in this song is super cheesy, especially with those harmonics. And the bridge/outro is emblematic of the worst parts of this genre.

They Perched On Their Stilts, Pointing and Daring Me To Break Custom: FIrst of all they can fuck right off with that title. Cool drumming at the start, but more generic post-hardcore guitar followed by cheesy guitar in the verse. The vocal melody is cool, again Circa-esque, but the chorus is not. The drumming is cool throughout this song.

Overall, not terrible, and I was obviously being hyperbolic before, but "Seven Years" will still remain the only song I return to from this. The production on this is also quite lacking, which doesn't help these songs.

 

Obviously that's my opinion. Only one of those songs is good. The rest are meh to me.

Death Wolf - not what I was expecting at all. Good opener. Wow.

Tidal Wave - I'm completely blown away by the style of this album. Very punkish. Not what I ever would have imagined this would sound like.

You Can't Look Back - This one sounds more like what I was expecting. Good song. I really like this album so far.

Fences - interesting song. Adam's voice sounds so different on this whole album so far. Like I said before completely surprised.

All Excess - This one sounds more like the TBS that I know and remember. Good classic TBS song. Didn't care for the outro though.

I Felt It Too - obligatory slower song, I'm usually not a fan of these. It's fine. Just don't really care. Also the longest song on the album and I Feel It Too

Call Come Running - I like this one a lot. Good song, catchy chorus. Adam sounds more like the olden days.

Holy Water - Kinda lost interest during this one. It wasn't bad, but just got bored a little bit.

In the Middle of it all - meh. Was still bored during this one. It was ok though. Not as bad as Holy Water.

We Don't Go In There - I don't hear enough John Nolan on this album why not? Good song though. I liked it enough.

Homecoming - This one had a pretty good build up and payoff. I liked this one even though I was semi-distracted.

I'll Find A Way To Make It What You Want - Good Closer. liked the build up to the bridge.

Overall I thought this was a pretty good album. I would give this a 6.5/10 really liked the first half, the 2nd half lost me a little bit. maybe I'll listen again someday.
