There is the one scene in the book where the biologist’s husband comes back and she has sex with him to see if it changes his strange demeanor at all.

This was every bit as good as I hoped. Some scenes really freaked me the fuck out. Visually stunning, great performances, some nice and loud moments...I feel bummed for you UK folks that can’t see it in theatres.

the clone thing mimicking her movements was so so unsettling

If this is on Netflix it will likely be around through other channels soon, yeah?

no I know that, I just usually see netflix originals popping up on torrent sites same day so I wasn't sure how that all worked, I hate going to the theater in my city

If this is playing at a theater near you, I hiiighly suggest seeing it there to support something that Paramount has basically buried and also, because this should be seen on the big screen.

But I also understand this isn't playing everywhere.

I initially figured Paramount was burying this because it was bad, but the reviews have been mostly positive (88% on Rotten Tomatoes with 111 reviews in) so I guess they just got cold feet or something putting any more money into advertising it? As if it wasn't the follow-up to a widely beloved sci-fi flick with a huge star in the lead role and wouldn't have a chance at being successful if marketed well?

Movie studios make no sense to me.

My completely uneducated guess is this was a holdover from the former Paramount administration, like "The Cloverfield Paradox," and after the failure of "mother!" they didn't want to take a chance on another esoteric movie with a big star, so they shoveled it off to Netflix overseas.

Soundtrack was really cool too. Between the acoustic tracks and the plant based abominations I was getting The Last of Us vibes. But yeah these needs to be seen in a theater. There’s moments where both the visuals and the music just I overwhelm the senses.

Probably going to MoviePass this tomorrow. Really want to see Black Panther, but think it’s going to be too crowded even this weekend to make it work with MP.

This movie was bananas. Definitely need to see it again in theaters if only for the score.

I much prefer seeing serious movies alone so I can develop my own opinion without the influence/reactions of others, I like being able to pause something if I need rather than run out and miss anything potentially important, public transit for a half an hour each way on top of seeing something becomes p time consuming and social anxiety makes a home setting generally more comfortable

I'll go out for a movie on some occasions but it's not wrong to admit I'd rather an alternative, I doubt I'll be the downfall of the studio lol

I totally get that. And if it’s a social anxiety then by all means. The director has said that he made it for the big screen and its score and sound are fairly immersive that seeing it in a theater enhances it.

Fair enough! There's a theater in walking distance from me, it's more limited but if it goes there eventually I'll try and hit it

I'm sure it will be, but it's not on Netflix until 3/12 I believe. By then, it will likely be other places as well.
