Does a far left candidate have a shot of winning in that district or no?

  6. What are the implications of the PA gerrymandering ruling on other states? Any at all?

My guess would be no because it was a ruling based on the state constitution

No it's not. The whole job of the DCCC is to get candidates that can win elections. They're not always very good at it, but if that district is a moderate right wing one that isn't going to respond well to someone shitting all over life in Texas, then where are they wrong in their assertions? That's why I asked you if there's evidence that they are wrong.

It could embolden activists other states with severe political gerrymanders and moderate state Supreme Courts to try and challenge their own maps. But nothing else immediate as far as I can tell. I think a lot of people are probably just waiting to see what happens with the two gerrymandering cases from Wisconsin and Maryland that the Supreme Court is considering.

It just so happens that their preference as to who is “electable” happens to be people with access to money and centrist politics. That’s why whether or not she can win is irrelevant, because that’s not the actual metric they’re using. You can prefer to take their claims at face-value if you’d like, though. In the mean time, we’ll continue to hear about how the left has to run candidates to change the party, but, in reality, they will be undermined by those for whom right-wing politics is the only way to be elected in the country because they don’t actually understand how politics works.

  22. Fuck. My laptop and headphones are both physically falling apart even though the hardware and software is still totally fine in both cases. Just extremely annoying to use and expensive to replace. Infuriating

  23. I'd honestly rather they both just get destroyed so I'd have an excuse to replace them. But I can't justify it while they're still usable, no matter how annoying

I've repeatedly said I'd like to see the left run candidates----in districts that are heavily blue where they're already more left wing as an electorate. That's where we should be chasing centrists out, they have no business being there. But a district like this, if it really is a conservative district....
