Wake's 'Misery Rites' Is a Grinding Blast of Misanthropic Therapy

You all should check out the new Wake album when you get a chance. They play layered grindcore with death/black/crust elements. I know I've hyped them up in this thread before, but this is one album where I feel the hype actually delivers.

@sophos34, this MAY scratch that Cult Leader itch you've been looking to alleviate. I feel like I hear a lot of their grindier elements when I listen to this.

    enjoy it!

other quick recs on the grind side of things of the top of my head because i'm bored:

    insect warfare - "world extermination"
    wormrot - "voices" and "dirge"
dead in the dirt - "the blind hole"
    the afternoon gentlemen - "s/t"
    magrudergrind - "s/t" and "II"
napalm death - "scum" and "from enslavement to obliteration"
    terrorizer - "world downfall"
    god mother - "maktbehov"
    sick/tired - "dissolution"
weekend nachos - "still" and "worthless"

tried to do a combination of some of the hallmark albums for the genre and some more recent stuff I like. enjoy!

Sorry to get political for a second, but I saw this on a metal news site this morning and almost did a spit-take. I'm not sure who's leading the race for being the biggest piece of shit named Phil involved in the metal genre anymore...

    edit: grammar

I've said it before, but All That Remains is an apt name for the band since they used to have some solid material, but now "all that remains" is a shell of band that has to play to backing tracks.

When I saw them open for Killswitch Engage for a show here in New Jersey. All they did was play their hits even though they just released The Order of Things.

The coolest part of that show was Death Ray Vision opened. It was really cool to see Brian Fair's dirty dreads again!

everything after the fall of ideals is fucking ridiculously bad but fall of ideals and the two albums before are alright

I like a handful of songs from their later releases, but they definitely fell off in quality after Fall of Ideals. I don't even care if they want to change their sound, the real problem I have with them, is that I saw them live last year and they basically played over their album (like some rappers do) - There were parts when you'd hear Phil's vocals but he wouldn't be on mic, or you'd hear a guitar part and no one was playing guitar. It was really sad. I'd seen them in the early days and they were actually really good, but it's a totally different story now.

These guys just signed to Relapse. Awesome death/doom with some sludge and hardcore influences on the side featuring an ex-member of Rivers of Nihil. LP coming later this year.

If it were coming here, I'd definitely go, but for some reason it seems like all Municipal Waste tours skip Dallas. I could be wrong, but the only time I remember them coming through here was for Lamb of God/As I Lay Dying/God Forbid, which by that lineup you can tell was forever ago.

And of course Celeste announces a Chicago date with Infernal Coil the same date as when the Full of Hell/Gatecreeper tour hits here.
