Artist songs are the ones I get the most hyped for live. They usually throw a random 1 or 2 in every tour (along with the staple Silhouette) and it's always awesome. Album holds up so well.

 

i hope they never stop playing silhouette. as people who have seen them with me in this thread will attest, it always brings me out of mosh retirement

 

It's sounds so great live. They always place it pretty well in their set. My favorite was when they played it right after Red Sky. The mood was all light and beautiful and then, bam!!! heavy energy

 

Man, when I first heard "The Window," I started skipping down the street and high-fiving perfect strangers.

 

Hot Take: "Hurricane" never quite did it for me. I like aspects of it, but I rarely revisit it. Please don't hurt me.

 

hurricane is another that won me over live

 

mostly because of how hard dustin rocks out during it

 

wait how do you rarely revisit it its the first track of the album you should be hearing it every time you listen, dont tell me you skip the first track

This thread is making me feel like I've lost my fucking mind.

The posts about Artist being "awful" and not among their best broke me, so no hot take will ever make me double take or say "wut" again.

 

That Boysetsfire take was a head-scratcher for me. I love BSF, but I don't think anything they've done really sounds much like Artist-era Thrice.

 

I've never listened to them....but comparing them to Thrice in any sort of way, esp Artist, is a good way to get me to lol. Even if it's not true

 

Based on what I know about your music taste, you'd definitely be into them. Their singer put out a solo album this year too that's pretty good:

 

BSF is dope.

 

I think they sound similar

 

TAITA is fine. It’s lower tier Thrice though.

 

It's mid-tier for me, but still great:

Top-tier: Vheissu, TAI, Beggars

Mid-tier: TIOS, TAITA, TBEITBN

Lower-tier: IC, M/m

 

I am with you if you switch Beggars with Artist. I think their top 3 are Vheissu/TAI/Artist with Beggars probably 4.

 

The only album I put below TAITA is IC.

 

It's possible that I underrate Artist for myself. I know there's a nostalgia factor there, and it's hard for me to separate that from my true feelings about the album, so I just try to compensate for it in my ratings.

Artist and TBEITBN are the two I reach for when I want to listen to Thrice while going for a run. (Or either of the live albums.)

 

Top tier: Vheissu, Beggars, TBEITBN

Middle tier: Artist, Alchemy, M/m

Low tier: IC, IoS

 

Musically a lot of M/m is great, but the lyrics kill most of that album for me. And the production certainly doesn't help.
