Don't post often in here, but if I'm reading your situation right you didn't talk to your ex for a few years, then randomly texted her one day and things escalated to a flirty/kind of talking again/but not committing type-stage again?

That's great and all, but I'm of the believe that ex's are ex's for a reason. Not saying they can never get back together, but it's rare these type of situations work out again because ugly issues from the first time typically rare their heads again. The fact that she says "she isn't ready to take things faster' is not fair to you. Life is too short to live on stand still, you cannot live your life waiting to see IF she'll eventually be ready to take things further. That's not fair to you at all, and she needs to realize that. I'm not privy to your conversations, but it sounds like she's not ready to jump all the way in, but doesn't want you to explore anything else at the same time. That's just not fair or how it should work. You still need to go out and live your life and explore options to keep you happy and sane. If you're happy waiting to see what she decides, that's fine. But it sounds like you're at least interested in seeing what this other girl offers.

I highly suggest you take the other girl up on her offer to get drinks. You never know what may come of it. I also don't think you initially owe your ex an explanation of going out with the new girl. IF things work out with the new girl and you schedule a second date, then maybe you should say something to your ex. But I wouldn't make a huge thing of it at first when a) you don't owe that to someone who isn't ready to commit again and b) it sounds like an innocent date thus far.

 

I met that dad. It was fine and brief and i knew it'd be fine. He kinda sounds like a count to me . It's hard to pinpoint his accent because he speaks 7 different languages. But he was nice and hilarious.

 

i need to make it clear that she has been super cool about everything and has given me the "i don't expect you to wait" line more than once. i was the one who reached out and within a day we had talked about where things are and i still chose to proceed. but i agree, waiting is already getting stressful and that doesn't bode well. she is seeming less receptive to making plans, and i don't wanna spend the spring/summer that way.

i'm definitely going to go. we've been chatting and she seems very kind and i'm immensely attracted to her. i'll be up front with Jenn regardless of how it goes because my mood on it between yesterday and now has changed considerably. i'm excited!
