it'll range from about 2 volumes of Co2 up to about 4.5. A beer like Saison Dupont will typically be in the 3.0 volumes range where as a beer like Westmalle's Tripel is going to to push the 4-4.5 volume range. A beer like Orval is going to push the boundaries even higher to over 5. It's the reason Belgian beers are bottles in big, thick bottles and often are corked rather than capped and are poured with a big, frothy head. The carb level is super interesting because they're producing such small, prickly bubbles it makes the beer so lively on the tongue that it lightens up even something like Westmalle Tripel which is around 9% if I recall correctly, but doesn't drink anywhere near that.

Almost all American beer is going to sit in the low-to-mid 2's for carbonation. The brewery I work at do kegs only but we're shooting for about 2.5 volumes on our beers (and carbonate them in a big tank called a Brite Tank at about 13-14 PSI for 24-48 hours). However, when we move to canning, we're going to need a more precise measurement system (i.e.: purchasing a Zahm) which will give us more accurate readings. If we don't do this we essentially cannot have any packaged beer other than kegs because we can't guarantee the safety of the product or the consumers and our distributor won't purchase said product.

But, that's a bunch of boring shit about carbonation in beer.

How much treating your water chemically makes a difference. I believe firmly that the difference between a shitty beer and a good beer is recipe based. I believe the difference between good beer and great beer comes down to technique and properly treating the water.
Haha, it's honestly only because i recently started studying for the cicerone certification again after i've been putting it off for the last 18 months. What the Sommelier program is for wine, Cicerone is for beer. I think I could pass the level that I want to achieve with like 2-3 months of solid studying (mostly putting together food and beer pairings and rationalizing them correctly, which is my weak point), but it costs $400, the closest place to take the test is usually an hour away and only comes around once a year. So I'd want to be sure if I do take it that I'll pass.

@Mary V I'm taking my wife to The Cheesecake Factory tonight for her birthday.
Do y'all have Cheesecake Factory in Australia?

If so, why is their menu so large? What should I get to eat? What Cheesecake should I get for dessert?

    Do you even like Cheesecake?

I'm not that fun, to be honest! But I know a lot of facts about Harry Potter, I'm good at karaoke, can easily remember lyrics and melodies, and I love exploring all the alleys and shortcuts in Melbourne so I know it like the back of my hand

At the moment it's All Of My Heroes by Cecil Frena
Overall, god, I have no clue

I met my boyfriend on Twitter! He found our first interaction recently. He saw one of my tweets about international music festivals (music festivals in Australia were almost all gone at the time) and he replied to me. We had a few chats about music and tv and Harry Potter, and within a month we were talking every day. The rest is a really crazy, wonderful history

We don't have the Cheesecake Factory in Australia! I'm quite offended that we don't. Anything chocolate or strawberry is always good. I don't eat cheesecake often but I do like it. My mum's Oreo cheesecake is my favourite

I have two favourite things about chorus! I love that it feels like a small, connected community even though we're all so different and far apart. I also love how diverse the music tastes are around here

Well, I found AP in 2013 due to an obsession with Brand New and other bands associated with them. I enjoyed reading the articles and lurked the forums, but I was always too shy to post. I lurked here for ages before I felt comfortable enough to post

Australia is a multi cultural, music and sport loving country. Most people are very kind and fun. Learning about all sorts of ethnicities is almost an every day thing, it's refreshing! It's a beautiful country. Every state has a very distinct feel to it, none feel the same. I live in Melbourne and I couldn't live anywhere else

Favourite show I've been to? You're killing me, so I'm going to cheat: Soundwave festival 2013, Lorde, Midnight Oil, The 1975, Paramore

I feel like a lot of people love the same artists that I do! probably artists from home (other than Courtney Barnett and Alex Lahey)
