Do you like grilled cheese with other stuff in it? Like apples or bacon or tomato? What’s your ideal grilled cheese sandwich? If you had to have a backup grilled cheese sandwich and it could have none of the ingredients involved in your ideal sandwich, what would the ingredients be?

My parents absolutely love candy corn and it drives me crazy. Like, I get it, they're old and have to appreciate basically anything at a certain point, but have some standards. Candy Corn is the 'food' that I would judge a person on so hard if I found out they ate it. I'd probably divorce someone if they liked candy corn and I didn't know until after marriage. It's a war crime in the food world.
I've actually had this avatar since 2005 when I started posting on AP.net. I changed it for about a week to Joel Zumaya in 2006 when the Detroit Tigers went to the world series and he was one of the best relief pitchers in the world, but I couldn't find my posts in threads so I had to switch back to this avatar. Then I learned on AP.net you could just click the little arrow and it would take you to the last unread post instead of going to the last page and then scrolling back through pages to find where you left off. Changed my life.

I guess that doesn't answer you question. I don't know, I just put it in as my avatar and then don't touch it. It's like how you leave a painting on a wall.
    Yes.
Neither. I think that and potato/pasta/macaroni salads are all pretty gross. Pasta salad is passable in some cases for me but even then I'm taking like a spoonful.
I have two for biggest inspiration.

    1) My friend Brian. I got a job in a pizza place when I was like 19 or 20 and I worked with him, as he was from a different store and covering for one of my managers or something. We worked in some silence for a bit, but he's a talker. So he asked me what music I liked and I told him that he probably wouldn't know any of the bands and he pressed me on the topic so I said Motion City Soundtrack and Saves The Day and stuff like that. STD was one of his favorite bands and he saw Motion City Soundtrack play at our high school (we went to the same high school but he transferred to a different one before I was a freshman because of his parents divorce; he's four years older than me, by the way). I then had some problems with our managers because they were shitty and I was like give me a big raise or transfer me to the store Brian was working at and instead of paying me they transferred me and him and I became pretty close. My brother is 9 years older than me so we've never been too close just because of the age gap. Brian basically became my cool older brother. What's inspirational about him is the dude wants to learn and know about everything that interests him. Comedy, movies, music, video games, politics, whatever, the dude soaks up as much knowledge as possible. He also helped me be able to lead a conversation with people instead of just participate in one and he showed me the reward of taking risks. He (and everyone we worked with) hated the pizza job so he saw a game store up for sale on craigslist and he used all of his savings to purchase it. That blew me away, like how the fuck do you just do that?! When I had met my most recent ex girlfriend and I was still struggling with a bunch of issues I had pertaining to jealousy and the fact that her and I were in different cities and that I was scared it wouldn't work, he stayed up until 3 am one night just talking to me on a back porch and he said, essentially, "if it doesn't work out you thank her for the opportunity to learn and to grow from the relationship." Always stuck in my mind.

Unfortunately, he's picked up a lot of shitty qualities when it comes to politics that I don't agree with (doesn't believe in white privilege or the gender gap "is over blown") and that's disheartening a lot.

    2) My friend Brenna. I've only known her for two years but she's incredible. I worked with her boyfriend Paul after they moved from Portland to Lansing for her grad school and the three of us have become close friends. But she's this rad total leftist, call-out-anyone-anywhere person that puts up with no bullshit. She's also the most empathetic, compassionate person I've ever met with a killer dark sense of humor. She does therapy work with prisoners on top of her current PHD program, plus working a part time job plus doing Meals on Wheels. She is the type of person that you meet and befriend that teaches you so much and you carry a piece of them with you for the rest of your life. She's and incredible human being. I feel bad singing her praises and not Paul's, too, because he's an amazing dude but I feel like I've rambled too much on this question already.

Best quality of this community: It's tough because I only venture into like six threads, so i don't see a lot of the shitty parts of the site. For the threads I'm in they're open and welcoming. The various general forum threads I'm in are all ostensibly chat threads, but stuff like the wrestling thread is this great mix of nerds who just kind of obsess over wrestling.

What I would change about the community: I would make it more welcoming for people of color and women. I've seen/heard second hand about numerous people that don't feel welcomed on this site and that makes me sad. I owe a lot to @Jason Tate for AP/Chorus because of the people I have met (IRL and just online) and I want everyone to have that opportunity.

This is tough. I have a lot of stories but a lot of them revolve around gross things, none of them are go-to's though. I might have to come back to that one.

As far as a story that isn't a good one but had a big impact, over the summer I was sitting in the taproom at the brewery I work for and I was hanging with Brenna and Paul who I previously mentioned and I did something, I don't remember what it was -- probably brought a beer that Paul had wanted or something -- and I gave it to him out of the blue and he was like "you're the nicest dude ever" and I laughed and he stopped me and both of them were like "no, seriously, you are one of the nicest people we've met" and that floored me because that's something that I've wanted to become for a very long time.

The meaning of my life is to erase the 15+ years I spent as an awful, awful person. I drive a lot for work now, so I'm in my car alone for 5-8 hours a day, essentially. So I spend a lot of time thinking about a bunch of things and there's a lot of times I think back about the kids I bullied in school, the people I bullied on AP.net, the way I treated my parents for so long, the people I manipulated to benefit me and I feel miserable about it still. I don't think it anything I'll ever relinquish, and even typing this out makes me feel like I'm turning myself into a victim or a sympathetic figure when it's not what I want to happen. No one should have sympathy for the things I said or did to people, I was a garbage fire of a person.

So now my focus and meaning is to be the complete opposite of that. Learn how to be compassionate, thoughtful. Learn how to be open with people. Learn to listen to what people have to say instead of just hearing what they're saying. I figure I've got 30+ years of being a good dude to make up for any of the damage I did to people.

Heads up Seven up was fun in school. I enjoyed Red Rover and also freeze tag.
    I. Fucking. Love. Grilled. Cheese. One of the best things, IMO. I thoroughly enjoy other ingredients in it as well. Classy grilled cheese is fantastic, despite being lactose intolerant to an extent. So when I eat it I have to plan where I'll be in like two hours so I can have easy bathroom access, but it's worth it.

Ideal grilled cheese for me right now would be, like, loads of fresh mozz, basil and pesto. It's interesting you mentioned apples because my backup would be this one, solely because I came across it the other day and I want to make it: Sunday Brunch: Apple Cheddar Grilled Cheese Recipe · i am a food blog
Is the Pacific Northwest romantic? I really want to go to the PNW. So, how about we go walk the streets and avoid anything touristy and we pretend we're locals. I'm sorry, being romantic is one of the things I'm the worst at.

I'm 100% fine with it. I want to try to get back into baseball again. If anyone from the AP sports forums remembers, I was like the ultimate baseball nerd. The last three years I've fallen so far out of baseball that I barely remember that the Astros won the world series and that aaron judge is like 10 feet tall. I couldn't even tell you who is still on the Tigers (Have they traded Ian Kinsler yet?)

I don't know what happened during her rendition. Is it universally being panned? 'cause I kind of like that it wasn't just the same ol' anthem singing. It was odd, but at least it was different.

I can concur with that. Didn't seem like she knew what style she was going for but I'd take weird and probably not good over the same ol' same ol', I think. It was half way between a weird sinatra and Happy Birthday Mr. President marilyn monroe impression.
