What is weird to me when I go back and listen to Enema or TOYPAJ is that every song is almost 100% Tom or Mark, but there's still a ton of cohesion and consistency. My brain always decides to have a revisionist take on those albums when I compare them to Neighborhoods. I always gripe about how all of the tracks there are obviously Tom or obviously Mark, but there's way less crossover in the tracks on the older albums than I remember.

I wish they'd put every time I look for you as an encore track, such an underrated song

any chance you have a link? Pathetic was the the first song from blink I ever heard.

I loved the songs where there were crossover tracks as both of their voices worked really well together. I think Pathetic was the first song that both Mark and Tom really sang together on as well as Josie. On Enema it was just Dysentery Gary. Man Overboard was another one. TOYPAJ had STFTK and Everytime I Look For You. It really wasn’t until Untitled that they really started to use the back and forth cross overs more. But I’m surprised there weren’t more on the older albums.

  9. It was more natural then. No one thought about it the way the fans did. Then it became a thing. “Things” always ruin it.

It's been said a lot by now but I really hope the next album has Mark and (especially) Matt solo songs.

Anyone got clues about what they were up to in vegas? Some agency people, photographers, and one music video maker was tagged in Mark's post on instagram.

It undoubtely feels like they are going to promote something. A new tour feels weird, as they havent released any new music.

A new video also seems weird as it was quite long ago that california was released.

Wouldn't get my hopes up on new music either, although it would be nice.

Whatever it is it will most likely be underwhelming (like in 2009 when they were teasing us with a bunch of pictures of green screen, and it turned out to be a doritos commercial). It's nice to see that they're doing stuff though.

Honestly that was probably the best Tom sounded in any performance from 2009-2013. All it took was some augmented reality inside of a Dorito’s bag!

I might not be understanding what you're talking about...you mean tracks with both of them singing (which would include harmonies) or specific examples where it's like a rapid fire back and forth? Cause they did it more than we realize starting with tracks on Dude Ranch (Pathetic, Josie, Dammit [live version], Enthused, Untitled). Then on Enema they did it with Dysentery but also All the small things and Going away to college.

And I agree with @David Parke that on untitled and after it became like more of a thing they did...I'll throw in that on that album I felt like they overlaid the vocals to give it more of a TBS/Brand New feel which was different from how they did it prior to then. I didn't like it, felt like it wasn't blink.

The disappointment. They had promised an album summer 2009, starting teasing us with pictures of what looked like a music video set, and it turned out to be blink playing in a bag of chips.

Overall, my initial point was that even though there were some songs where they crossed over, a lot of them at least felt like they were written completely by one or the other (and just decided to feature the other later on). But you're right, Untitled changed everything.

I was just thinking about how we all freaked out before Neighborhoods, "Oh no! They're writing songs separately?!" even though that was most likely the case even with the majority of the old songs, but who really knows.

  17. That Doritos thing was suuuuch a letdown haha. It was fucking awful!

oh ya they absolutely wrote songs separately throughout their whole discog, it's just that as their song writing improved they knew how to incorporate other vocals better.

What's cool is from enema on you can see the influence Travis had on their song writing, songs that normally would've been super fast, he suggested slowing down and it worked wonders.

I really wish they didn’t feel the need to have Mark and Matt both singing on every single song. Or that there is almost never a moment without vocals

  20. Or that every song is Mark first verse/Matt second verse. Until the deluxe came out and they broke that mold a tiny bit.

I kinda have fallen in love with california recently. I didn't love it when it first came out, but songs like BTD, LA, and Sober are absolute bangers IMO. I know a lot of people are more excited about a new Trio album, but Im getting really anxious about new blink. In the best of worlds (not getting my hopes up), the vegas stuff was them donig stuff to start promoting a new album.

A surprise release would be dope. As far as i know, blink has never done that?
