Now I Know This World Isn’t Spinning Just For Me Prestigious

Remember when @Dirty Sanchez tried to make a Ranking thread so we’d stop ranking on threads in chorus?

    Does that thread still exist?

  2. Online Songs
    Everytime I Look for You
    Roller Coaster
    Reckless Abandon
    Shut Up
    Anthem Part Two
    Don’t Tell Me It’s Over
    Story of a Lonely Guy
    First Date
    Rock Show
    Stay Together for the Kids
    Give Me One Good Reason
    Please Take Me Home
    Time to Break Up
    What Went Wrong

I ignored joke tracks. Also, my top 3 are probably my favorite Blink-182 lyrical moments.

  3. The vocal melody during the choruses of "Story of a Lonely Guy" reminds me so much of "No One Else" by Weezer

  4. TL:DR - I can't be objective about my favorite blink record.

I love TOYPAJ so much I think it'd be impossible to rate the tracks but I think I could put Anthem Part 2 up top. Lyrics were so much less important to me when this record came out and when I put it on, I almost still don't see them in any other light than 2001 me. They're almost an instrument to me. They were already my favorite band, I had "found myself" that previous year and had completely let the hype of the record and its touring to wash over me. I would have to listen to this record like homework to be able to think objectively about it.

While I know untitled is their best work, TOYPAJ is my favorite blink record.

I guess I could say that I don't love Please Take Me Home and GMOGR hasn't aged well with me while I think I thought it was a great song when the album was released. Perhaps that's one song where the lyrics stand out enough to pull me out of my stuper. I like the riffs but there's something kinda meh about it these days for me. I am also over "First Date" and Rock Show" live but they're produced SO WELL on the record, I dig them. I'm on the fence about "Stay Together..." Could take or leave it. That riff is the first thing I play when I pick up a guitar though, so there's that?

I think Time to Break Up, What Went Wrong?, and Don't Tell Me It's Over are in the top 5 songs on the record. The acoustic bonus tracks are whatever. They're produced well, I guess? I almost never listen to just a few songs off this record. It's a full-listen for me so maybe that's why I can't rank the songs?

  5. I have always "heard" this while listening but never put it together. POINTS!!

I was happy when Mark confirmed on Twitter that I was really hearing the true lyrics to that song all these years: "And when the storm comes I'm all torna pinside"

  7. So I used to have iTunes do star ratings on my songs based on my listening habits and the tracks still hold these ratings in my library. It was some plugin I had back in like 2006-2009-ish. If we were to go off of that, my ranking would go this way (I do NOT agree with this, BTW)

    Anthem 2
    Fuck a Dog
    Give Me One Good Reason
    Shut Up
    Time to Break Up
    What Went Wrong
    Mother's Day
    Happy Holidays You Bastard
    Story of a Lonely Guy
    Rock Show
    Roller Coaster
    Reckless Abandon
    Everytime I Look For You
    Don't Tell Me It's Over
    Online Songs
    First Date
    Stay Together for the Kids
    Please Take Me Home
    When You Fucked Grandpa

It should be noted that Fuck a Dog was technically listed as #1 but I just couldn't.

I always thought a lyric to Down was "her glowing side burns" instead of the real lyric of "the glow inside burns" until I actually looked it up because it never made sense to me. Got to love Tom.

I love how in those "Making Of" videos, he clearly knew what it sounded like when he was recording it but just said "Fuck it" and kept it in anyway.

TOYPAJ is a very good record with some lyrics, mostly Tom’s, that are really bad. I like most of the songs well enough anyway and I think it’s about as mature a record as California. TOYPAJ is probably my third favorite blink record. I like it more than Enema.

I have TOYPAJ and Enema ranked side by side with a slight edge to Enema because I think it's Mark's 2nd best effort after Dude Ranch and has more classic songs on it to give it that edge. TOYPAJ is such a good sequel/follow up to Enema, it would have been interesting to see what the next album would have sounded like if Tom never went to "music school".

My favorite is when his son asked him what “the voice inside my yead ” means

The serious bonus songs for TOYPAJ are so damn good. Better than some stuff that made the actual album.

“His company has received so much media attention that Tom stopped doing interviews.”

    Oh yeah? That’s why?

Does that also explain why there was a whole whopping ZERO people in the audience of his big revealing press conference?

I love and will forever love Rock Show but First Date is one of my least favorite singles by them

Despite my last few posts in here I still love the majority of TOYPAJ

Yup, especially What Went Wrong. I wonder why they decided to keep those songs as bonus songs instead of on the actual album and what other songs were considered to be bumped for them.

Weird that they were all Tom songs, too. I would have taken any of them over "Give Me One Good Reason". Most people would have probably replaced "Story of a Lonely Guy" but I've always had a love for that song for some reason. Oh well.

That Pathetic cover Mark retweeted back in 2011. I've played the shit out of it over the years.

I literally just put Time to Break Up, Don't Tell Me It's Over and What Went Wrong on the end of the album in that order and it works great imo

Yeah I know Story of a Lonely Guy isn't many people's favorites on the album and it's on the bottom for me too but I wouldn't want to replace it. This album, to me, is such a perfect summer high school album and that song just fits in with that theme perfectly.
