It would be impossible for me to rank my top 10 songs and whatever I came up with would change almost immediately. I will say "Orphans" is one of his best that I feel doesn't get talked about enough.

Also this acoustic version (the only one I know of for that song) from The Revival Tour is awesome if anyone hasn't seen it:

It’s weird I’ve tried getting into TGA by listening to a bunch of suggested songs here and there but so far Handwritten is the only thing that’s stuck for me outside of his solo work. I really liked Painkillers though, and I fucking love Sleepwalkers. It bothers me that most of the older material isn’t clicking for me yet.

Dark Places just clicked for me this week for some reason. The part where he goes "Drifted aWAYYYY Hey ey ey ey" is great.

The beginning of Dark Places hits really hard for me. Maybe because Brian has romanticized driving in so many songs, the line "If I thought it would help, I would drive this car into the sea" really stopped me in my tracks.

Orphans is absolutely top 15-20. It was on my initial pre-whittling list.

I finally received my deluxe vinyl preorder. Super disappointed that it was carelessly packaged and the corners of the sleeve got beat up.

But I didn’t realize this was a 45 rpm record until I started playing it. First time ever playing a 45 and my mind is blown at how good it sounds!

I still don't have so much as a 'hey, sorry for the delay, we'll ship it to you in two weeks.' I've had literally nothing.

Wrecked 'em? Damn near killed 'em!

That version of Orphans is gold. I love it so much. Also, that song in general ranks in my top 15 for sure.

Welcome to the club, friend! It’s definitely the best track on that album.

Could someone rip these acoustic tracks Brian performed:

The chorus to Her Majesty's Service is so killer. Have had it stuck in my head all week.

That's such a bummer man. They're doing a terrible job managing whatever issues they're having. The box mine was shipped in had fragile warnings on it but they folded those flaps inside so that USPS couldn't see them. You could tell the box was really beat up during shipment so it's no surprise my sleeve is damaged.

Whittling down to a top ten isn't easy. I had about 25 songs that could have made it. This is what I decided on, somewhat in order but probably would change if you asked me next week:

    American Slang
    Blood Loss
    Dark Places
    The Backseat
    Great Expectations
    Handwritten
    Blue Jeans & White T-Shirts
My Name Is The Night (Color Me Black)
    Behold The Hurricane
    Go Tell Everybody

Just missed the cut - Watson, Bring It On, Orphans, She Loves You, 45, Mae, Smoke, Red Lights (MATZ version), Ladykiller

No love for Wooderson ? The way he sings ,,Honey,I can't tell no lies" is so good.So it's whole song.

I could easily argue this is his best song. I love it to death.

I emailed them about my lack of download card in my record and they said the standard vinyl doesn't come with it. I told them that this is the first time I've ever seen that and I buy a lot of records, but also that when I pre-ordered it there was no indication that I wouldn't also get mp3s. No answer yet. I think that's bs.

1 The Diamond Church Street Choir
    2 A Wonderful Life
3 Meet Me By the River's Edge
    4 Great Expectations
    5 Old White Lincoln
    6 Blue Dahlia
    7 The Patient Ferris Wheel
    8 Mae
    9 Smoke
    10 Behold the Hurricane

But I hate myself for leaving out Here's Looking at You Kid, Rosemary, Desire (yes, Desire), Boxer, Selected Poems and The Backseat.

From the new album Watson is my fave and an easy top 5 contender but I like to give new songs a couple months to settle in before ranking them among the pantheon. I'd probably rank the new album like this for now:

    Watson
    Neptune
    Forget Me Not
    Her Majesty's Service
    Etta James
My Name is the Night (Color Me Black)
    Little Nightmares
    Proof of Life
    Sleepwalkers
If Your Prayers Don't Get to Heaven
    Come Wander With Me
See You on the Other Side

Right now my Fallon ranking would be '59 Sound, American Slang, Painkillers, Sleepwalkers, Handwritten, Get Hurt, Elsie, Sink or Swim, but I haven't yet definitively decided on Sleepwalkers' position. '59 Sound is my #2 record of all time by anyone, ever (after Born to Run), but Sleepwalkers feels like it could surpass Painkillers and even American Slang with time.

While i rep Sink or Swim, Drive is holy shit good.

Listened to Sugar today. He weaves sooo many different vocal melodies into that song. Reminds me of what The National did throughout Trouble Will Find Me.

Listened to Have Mercy for the first time in a year or two. I never listen to it anymore due to not being on Spotify. And I keep forgetting how fucking beautiful it is.

This is pretty much where I'm at. Though I don't think there's actually a weak link on the album and I pretty much love them all haha.

Pretty sure a Brian Fallon/Rob Thomas tour would be killer, and needs to happen asap
