Wrecked 'em? Damn near killed 'em!

Helter Skeleton is a jam, especially while going out for a long run or doing any sort of cardio haha Stray Paper and Red Violins are the only 2 songs I make a conscious effort to skip. I know I shit-posted about Break Your Heart earlier, but I'll still listen to it from time to time.

Underrated aspect of the cover art is how he puts the color palette in the top right corner.

I've never put in the effort to rank my favorite Fallon songs, Blood Loss would certainly be in the top tier. Most frustrating part of Elsie is that Blood Loss wasn't the closer. I Believe Jesus is a good song, but it's such a let down after the high point of the album (the ending of BL).

Helter Skeleton is far and away my least favorite Gaslight song.

Just a heads up for anyone still waiting on album deliveries - I got the following from FH's customer service today. Frustrating, after preordering in October.

"Thanks for contacting us! Please note that there has been a delay with your order. We apologize for any inconvenience. We currently expect your order to ship within the next 1-2 weeks, and tracking information will be provided upon shipment. "

Helter Skeleton, Get Hurt, Rollin’ & Tumblin, Have Mercy, Dark Places, and 1000 Years are all worth the existence of the Get Hurt album!

Yeah, this kinda confuses me because he speaks in the first person about the lost lover throughout the chorus, and then switches tense to "watching detectives" chase the one that got away. Wouldn't he be the detective, in that instance, not the guy "watching detectives" ?

Not trying to nitpick, it just throws me off, and makes me wonder if I'm misinterpreting his intention.

But then again I'm the guy that was all in up arms over "football top" until that was explained, so if anyone can set me straight I'd appreciate it.

On Amazon, it says 'ships within 1 to 3 weeks.'

Also, Painkillers is only $11 on vinyl right now on Amazon.

To all of you talking about various Brian Fallon songs not being very good, I just have one question:

    How dare you?

I had that thought too...but for me the "watching detectives" line still works because it kinda paints the picture of a bunch of lost lonely guys doing the same thing. As if the train station is this place where you go to look for the person you lost. So he is one of the detectives but he's observing all the other ones too. They're all chasing their own individual "one that got away".

I love "Helter Skeleton". It's a refreshingly "edgy" (all relative, this is Brian Fallon we're talking about here) song that genuinely surprised me in a good way the first time I heard it.

I think that's why I love "Get Hurt" as a whole. Brian's explored heartbreak in the past but it's always been from a very romanticized lens. On that album, and that song in particular, he really wasn't afraid to explore the uglier, more unflinching side of it.

I remember my first listen of "Helter Skeleton", I was anticipating the last chorus to explode rather than be quiet like the first two, and when it did it really made the song for me.
