I feel like his production had me going back to the Dryjacket album more than the songs themselves did

 

this is 100 percent true,

 

I think that Dryjacket album is awesome on its own... though obviously Greg working on that was the biggest part of my anticipation before the release! Whereas 'Kingfisher' by Prawn is just the best thing that was done by the band, and Greg's production and arrangements were amazing (also mastered by Mike Kalajian, same as here, not sure how about 'For Posterity').

 

More people need to be fans of Caravela. Saw them open for Gates a few years back and the crowd cleared the floor when they came on— super lame. Haven’t disliked a single release by them.

 

I don't unerstand that... I always stay through all the sets out of respect, at the least, only with some exceptions on feeling under the weather etc. or some special reasons.

 

To be perfectly fair, it was a small show. Still, it’s a 20-30 minute set. Don’t get a drink and leave— get your drink and stay to possibly discover a new band.

This line hits particularly hard for me today. Greg's lyrics are always so good.

 

Not too take it too far from Mov Mou, but heey, that Caravela album is perfection! So catchy and fresh, I really enjoy it and still listen to it all the time! ..Could anybody tell me if it's not Tony Clark from Prawn on the song "Ski"? Singing back to the lyrics after 3:20 mark?

New Caravela is great, they always deliver!

New Caravela is fantastic. I've been listening to it daily since it came out.

Also I rec'd that Brendan Rivera record to the Emo thread last week haha. Thought I was the only one who knew about it here. That album got a lot of plays on long drives, back when it came out and I still lived with my parents on Long Island. It's actually an album very dear to my heart so I hope people catch on. Brendan Rivera's other work is also great.

 

Hell yeah, thanks for that - I'm checking it out right away and it sounds great! I can easily pick on the Mov Mou influence, but there's a lot of folk and even some upbeat rhythms with bluegrass in the back hehe... and I'm obviously a huge fan of Mike Kalajian's discography! Took a lot of effort to have him master my own band's 2 EPs last year as well. If anyone's willing to check it out I'll leave you with a link ;D

Shout out to you all repping the Caravela record, finally got me to check them out after sleeping on them and boy am I enjoying this

 

I like their album Coat Of Arms so I'll be sure to check this

Can we talk about how good the S/T is? Vastly underrated album.

 

Sure, it is! Will always be underrated, I guess, but it's pretty much loved by many people around here!

 

I love the s/t.

 

Everything about it is just so soothing. I actually love how laid-back the vocals are.

Foreword and Moving Mountains are tied but Ode is their best song.
